Thanks for reinforcing this for me. It seems a lot of vets are not up to par on this topic. I went for a meet and greet today to a new vet in town. She was much nicer, willing to discuss things and appalled at the way the last vet spoke to me. But she is against raw, doesn't believe that wheat and corn are big allergens and won't allow owners to go in the back with their dogs for procedures that require it. She tried to assure me that her staff are very well trained, gentle and understanding with the dogs and it would be ok. My dog has an issue with being restrained, he doesn't even like me to do it but will tolerate it with a little growliness sometimes. I told her of this and she felt sure they could handle him just fine. I'm getting out the phone book....search is on still I think.
And from the newest Merck Veterinary Manual:
"The most frequently identified causative allergens in canine food allergy include beef, chicken, eggs, corn, wheat, soy, and milk."
There is no authoritative list I have seen that doesn't contain these items.

Darn, the nearest one is four hours from me...
P.S. My dog seems to be perfectly healthy again. All symptoms have resolved. I did learn from this that all my pets seem to be wild about plain nonfat yogurt. You would think it was manna from heaven...
Is it OK to continue adding a glop or two to their kibble on a daily basis? (they eat Canidae)
