One time on pedigreedatabase some fool actually tried to argue that dogs now need grains & fillers in their diets because we have been feeding them kibble so they have now evolved to need them !!!!! ROFLMAO
THAT is the most common mind-set of the vast majority of people. We have been fed that line so many times in so many different forms that it is entrenched in the minds of the masses.
That is why feeding raw is so hard for most people to comprehend.
They think you're asking them to move to the moon.
Isn't it amazing how Hills et al have somehow convinced a whole society that (1) only a corporation can figure out how to feed a dog, and (2) fifty years of crap in a bag has modified millennia of nutritional evolution. That's a blink on the nutritional anthropological timeline.

I like the people who think that grains/carbs should be a majority of a dog's or cat's diet because "in the wild a dog would the stomach and contents of it's prey." Ah.. they aren't killing elephants, they do not consume 66% grain and plant fibers. They try to use an educated "in the wild" approach, it baffles me how a deer or a rabbit could be 66% grain..
About vets, some of them are offered commission(I asked a very honest vet), just as some breeders are offered discounts by major corporations for being mass producers of AKC champs and putting a "We feed only EUKANUBA products!" tag on their advertisements.
The vet/pet food phenomenon is the same as the doctor/prescription phenomenon, IMO. It's all about discounts, numbers, $$$, and lack of initiative. They take what is fed to them and spit it back out to the rest of us, a form of regurgitation... minus the nutrition!!
Ever notice if you ask some vets a question with the word "why" in it, they either draw a blank, or start some pre-prepared speech that goes in circles and never says anything precise? I have a history with vets, lemme tell ya...
I feed a mix of kibble and raw as I do not have the storage for a fully raw diet. My dogs get a mix of 50% Canidae C+R, 50% EVO either the regular poultry or the red meat(2 cups total kibble), and 1/4 cup cooked brown rice with one raw egg and between 1/3 and 1/2 pound of a mixture of ground beef, ground chicken, ground turkey, beef and chicken liver. They absolutely thrive on this diet.

Slightly off topic but ... Sunday night we had company for dinner and my wife cooked a big bag of frozen corn. More then we ate, there was a lot leftover. She put it in the sink and covered it, she was going to take it out to our composter. A few hours later we were watching TV in the living room when we heard some strange noises from the kitchen. Our GSD had his front paws on the counter and was using his nose to move the cover around while he helped himself to the leftover corn.
He ate a lot of corn and it's been coming out of him for a couple of days now. Undigested. And in a runny mixture. Not a pretty site. And he's been straining too. So of all the grains available, I'd say corn is not one of them to feed (at least) my dog.

It will be OK, but yes, you're right about corn.
Corn COBS are even worse; they are downright dangerous. So you have been warned that your dog loves corn; watch the trash next summer!
It should be OK by tomorrow morning if this happened Sunday night.

Yuck.
I spilled some popcorn the other day and my pup gobbled up a couple of pieces of it before I could clean it up.
I gave her the whole speech about how I try so hard to provide her with high-quality species appropriate diet and that it's completely inappropriate and insulting for her to go eat corn right under my nose. I explained to her the plight of all those poor dogs out there forced to eat corn-filled crap day after day after day for the rest of their lives and that she should be thanking me for sparing her of that abuse.
I think I got through to her

My wifes dog eats kibble. Turbo acts like a maniac chasing dropped pieces and licking the kibble residue out of her bowl. He also likes deer corn and acorns.(just found out acorns can be poisonous)
I think its kinda like kids and twinkies.

Deer, coons, quail and squirrels eat them all the time. They are one of their staple foods in the winter.
True hasn't died yet, how bad can they be?
