Do people really do that little research? Really? I spent 3 years researching before buying my first dog. Just temperaments, info, and quirks of every breed I could find. Geesh.
Sadly, yes.
You're just not normal, David! LOL
As long as there are breeders willing to sell dogs to anyone with the money in hand, you will find people impulse buying puppies of all breeds. Many backyard type breeders don't have the money and time resources to properly raise, train and house puppies until the perfect home is found. It can be challenging for us to do here also and we have a staff to help.
Many of the folks I talk with about our available puppies and dogs are shocked that I am not really trying to 'sell' the dog to them. I want it to be a good fit, that lasts a lifetime and is (hopefully) mutually satisfying.

Cindy, you are one of the few (sadly) that does not supply the rescue world and the shelters. 25% of dogs in shelters are purebreds, meaning the puppy buyer did not do their research, the breeder did not make a good match, and the breeder didn't take the dog back when it didn't work out. Unbelievable David, isn't it; but Cindy is 100% correct - people just try to blindly buy dogs because "they are cute" and there are too many breeders and pet stores out there who just trade dogs for cash.
I am a rescue person who just tried to raise a litter of pups out of a dog who was dumped... it is mentally and physically exhausting. I still have all 4 of the pups at 14 weeks, because I too am picky but don't have the benefit of a breeder's reputation, experience or facilities. (Its my first and hopefully only litter). So I hope my puppies turn out somewhat as good.
Good for you, Cindy, for being so picky. Its like a breath of fresh air to hear that. A Malinois isn't for everyone, they are a lot of dog, and I always wondered how you can find such good homes for them.
I am sure Ember (what a cutie!) will go/has gone to the best home ever. Best for last, haha.

Thanks Angela, being responsible for bring dogs into the world is something I don't take lightly. Some may say I am obsessive but I just can't sleep at night if I don't do everything in my power to make the right match for the dog and the human.
I am hoping Ember will have the best of homes, fingers crossed! I should know soon.

That pup is AWSOME !!! She has to go to the right home, otherwise, she would be ruined. She looks like she should go to a working home ONLY and you are wise to pick the Best fit. WIsh I could have one like that one day, when I grow up. LOL
She is to die for !!!

Hi Cindy. Can I ask what the asking price is? I have a male Czech GSD I'm training for SAR work but my thought is for our local police dept if you feel she could make a great police dog or even a bomb or narcotics dog. Being female, I'm not sure how they are in their later years.
I'm also training with a few PA Task Force personnel as well as a woman most people here know, Elizabeth K out of Va (Va Task Force (FEMA)) so I can put the word out to help.
If I may, I'd like to "advertise" a breeder (if ok) as to where I purchased my pup. I began a site to help both myself as well as others keep tabs on him as his training progresses. My site is: http://www.k9sarnj.com. My breeders site is: http://www.vomholtzberg.com out of Oregon. Becky is the owner and she was just awesome in helping me to choose the "right" pup for the job (in my case SAR work). But again, my inquiry would for my local PD or a fellow SAR person. Please let me know the particulars and if you'd prefer, my email is: k9sarnj@comcast.net. Have a great and wonderful (and safe!) Christmas everyone.

Sorry Harry, Ember lives with me now.
She is an accelerant/PPD prospect and if she does not like accelerants, I am positive she will accel at PPD.
Harry, Do you know Sara Atlas?
