Hmmm, sounds like you need to expand your horizons, young lady.

I wouldn't have any trouble feeding him a bunny, but cutting it up might be hard, and killing it would be out. I just couldn't do the deed.
But to stick to the OP, it would take quite a bit of chopping to feed a bunny to 9 wk. Chi.....

I was offered a BUNCH of free bunnies once to feed the dogs, it would have kept them in meat for quite some time.
But they came furry, whole, and breathing.
So i had to pass on that one.

I think the number of people on the board who have actually turned living rabbits into food for their dogs is very very small.

This is probably true Connie, but really, wouldn't his be the perfect dog food?
When I was talking to my daughter in law about wanting to feed RAW, I mentioned to her the prey model feeding, and whole animals like bunnies. She actually got excited and said if I wanted to do that, she would raise the bunnies for me. Now I just need to find someone to dispatch them for me...I'm working on my son.

They would indeed be perfect. And it's too bad that nearly all of us know meat only from butcher paper or a supermarket tray wrapped in plastic wrap.
I was just saying that I feel pretty sure that most of the board members (me certainly included) do not go from raising to killing to feeding their dogs' meat.
Not saying that's good -- not at all -- just saying that's probably the case.

Ok, great! Don't expand your dog food horizons; immediately send any and all questionable food, alive or dead, to my address.
Seriously though, Connie, do you think it shouldn't be done b/c only a "very very small" number do it, or because you think it's in some way harmful? I am always looking for ways to expand to feed my dogs & cats better, fresher, healthier, cheaper etc., but not at the cost/risk of doing them harm.

Maria
If there is anybody on the island who raises and butchers goats that would be excellent dog food. You can also get the tripe and organs that way.
Goats on a carribean island? Nahhhhhhhhh. LOL.
We had a saying in Curacao. "You haven't really lived in Curacao until you've driven over a goat".

Of course I don't think that. Didn't say that, don't think that.
I was commenting that recommending that she "expand her horizons" when she wasn't able to take living rabbits from alive to dog food might really be expanded to most of the board. You too, it turns out in a later post. ("I use a local officer.")
