I'm totally sympathetic. We all are; I'm sure you know that.
But the forum is not a substitute for the vet. It looks like every thought on the subject has been posted. I'd be following up, I think, on reaching the vet who did the surgery and sent you home without a cone, while following a couple of the cone and access suggestions posted. (That's just what I would do; I'm not a health professional.)
I'm so sorry you have to go through this.
I'd also have a mental note to discuss with my own vet asap who covers for him/her at night and on weekends.
my vet that i had the "sure call anytime" relationship with just moved!!!!!
the vet i didn't like as much did this operation monday, and will be there tomorrow-
she is the most chill cat ever-and will wear clothing just fine(don't ask) so i will see if i can find the medical tape-would a gauze with an ace bandage wrapped around loosely work?

It may.... you know the cat best. I have done that with a t-shirt on a dog who wanted to lick at a small incision.
Good luck. And I would still discuss who covers for the vet after hours.

and i will be asking those questions-i had a friend tell me this particular vet wasn't thourough enough....i will make sure to as a lot of questions.
Yes ..... because now you have found out (unfortunately) that this vet may not be what you want in a vet (especially in an emergency ... when it matters most).
i had something similar happen w/a rabbit once, though it wasn't opened as much.
do you have any butterfly bandages? i used them, gauze, with a bandage around. and since i'd loosened the cone for her i remedied that as well....but the butterfly bandages are good for holding it together.
what exactly are butterfly bandages?
i have gauze, ace bandages, different shaped band-aids, neosporin, things like that. It is a basic first aid kit i got from walmart.
