I stay away from solid gold only because the parent company has had legal issues. If they have unethical problems in one arena then I have trouble trusting them in others uch as quality control.

i met the kooky solid gold lady at a dog show, she said my dog shouldnt eat the grain free, she doesnt even know my dog,i would by nothing from that quack
Steve, I'd be the first to switch back to raw if I were facing those kind of prices as well. I am very fortunate to have a great relationship with the butcher here.
I still wouldnt feed solid gold, however. I would find another brand that had a higher quality and better ethics. Hope that clarifies!

I feed as i said Orijen for 16 month old Fred and Royal Canin Hypo food for 10 month old Goran
If i were to feed the two Dogs Raw over here that is saying Goran could eat Raw which he cannot,
then it would cost me around $214 dollars a week to feed the two dogs
That is more than i can afford to spend on two people
If i went to the slaughter house which is the opposite side of Belgium to where i live then i may get it cheaper but i do not have the Freezers to put it in or the room to house more freezers so its a catch can situation
I would love to feed Raw but its not going to happen with our Dogs
Saying that Fred Looks a million dollars with his Orijen and Salmon Oil and Vit E daily suggested by Connie and he is in Fantastic condition, gets plenty of work and Training there is no fat on him
Goran has to eat what keeps him sound at the moment although i would rather feed him different its not possible at the time
But he looks well on what he gets not as good as Fred But sound and well
My breeder recommended Solid Gold. It appears to be a decent food, or at least better than most other stuff. However, I started looking quite hard for something else when I found out that they give the stuff to breeders to feed their dogs in exchange for pushing it on puppy customers.
I'm feeding Orijen in the morning, and raw in the evening. I was originally only going to feed kibble, but with all of the benefits of feeding raw, I'm switching over. I do like feeding kibble in the morning since it takes longer to work it's way through the system. And, if I'm at a client longer than expected, I don't have to worry so much about him pooping in the crate. He poops exactly 7 hours after feeding kibble, and almost exactly 5 after raw.
Steve, I know it's easy for someone living over here to talk about the importance of feeding your dog a premium dog food (like what you are feeding) or raw when the prices are reasonable. It is another thing altogether when the prices are that inflated. That kind of dedication to your dogs' nutrition is great! I understand that there are times when someone simply cannot feed raw for one reason or another, and when that happens I have a few kibble brands that I recommend to them. The OP was asking specifically about a brand that I am not a fan of, so that specifically was what I was referring to.
I was reading about Orijen, BTW, and it looks like a great food.
