Steve Patrick Webboard User Reg: 06-03-2007 Posts: 495 Loc: Englishman, living in Belgium Offline	First of all, you say there is a big Flea Problem at the time, there is no need for a Dog to suffer Fleas which will live on them Forget the Flea Spray Get some Frontline and treat him, after that get him down to the Vet for a Check up to see that he is not hurting anywhere, but put a Muzzle on him before you take him in Only then can you evaluate any step next that needs to be taken, and better keep him away from the other Dog for a while and do not forget to treat the small dog with frontline and give the house a Spray Not good things to say but you seem to be a bit Lax in your management

You are doing the right thing by getting the dog evaluated by a vet. You are also doing the right thing by posting, being open to learning and willing to do what it takes to get on the right track with your dog. (IE: videos, pack structure, etc.) I know you had mentioned having an infestation of fleas, is the situation getting better?

Take heart, all is not lost. I would suggest you listen closely to Mike Schoonbrood, he won't steer you in the wrong direction. Several posters have given you great advise, I agree with muzzling (sort of levels the field a little bit), getting a vet check and consulting with a professional regarding possible handler aggression issues (which can be worked out by a good, trainer experienced with this specific issue). Many pesticides that inhibit cholinesterase, such as organophosphates and carbamates can and will effect behavior. If you accidentally dosed your dog with to much or too frequently I would bring this to my Vet's attention. Several years a guy used an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor as a defence for murder. I believe he was still convicted but the fact remains most pesticides are dangerous and need to be used properly. Note: I would like to add more people die each year from dihydrogen monoxide poisoning (water overdose and misuse) than pesticide misuse. Use chemicals, but use them wisely.

Steve Patrick Webboard User Reg: 06-03-2007 Posts: 495 Loc: Englishman, living in Belgium Offline	Using Flea Spray too often will make any Dog a Bit wary of it and there are better products and Preventitives on the Market Like Frontline, once a month put on and thats it, Its never let me down yet Perhaps you may have got the Dog in the Eyes with the Spray without knowing it at one time, then he will be sure to retailate on you when he sees the Can, Plus i would not dream of pulling Freds legs like that he would not take kindly to it, i would not expect a good reaction from him Get the Dog to the Vet for a Check up but take a muzzle with you and put it on him when you get there, seeing he has bit you its not worth the risk at the Vets Good Luck and i hope it turns out well for the Dog and yourself
