And here's my .02 worth, as a pet owner. Michael, I will preface it by saying that I am glad that your business is a success, and that, so far (perhaps due to your screening process and on-site supervision, or perhaps just because you have been lucky so far) you have not had any deaths or serious injuries at your facility.

I would never consider taking my dog to a DDC for the following reasons:
I have a large, dominant dog (bullmastiff mix, 90 lbs). Up to this point she has never had a bad experience with another dog. Her interactions (and they have been few) have been carefully supervised by me. I imagine she would pass your screening process, since she shows no aggressiveness toward dogs.

All it would take is one bad experience to make her a monster with other dogs, IMO. And if it occurred at a DDC, I have no doubt that it would not be a pretty sight. If she attacked another dog, or defended herself in an attack, what then? I imagine a lawsuit might be possible, or perhaps euthanasia, if a person were injured trying to break up a fight. It's just not worth the chance.

The other issue, for me anyway, is that I want her to view me as her source for fun, not a strange group of dogs. When I am out with her, I want her reaction to other dogs to be a non-reaction. I really don't want her to think that other dogs are playmates. My family is her pack.

Thanks for clearing things up. I have to say I agree with many people in here. I don't think Cesar is a fraud and what he does is so amazing. Of course, I can't handle a huge pack like he does.

I will surmise that for the working dog folks, it's the chance to run by ideas and ask questions of other working dog folks.

For the pet owners, I think that most end up here because they had a problem that couldn't be addressed by their vet; whether it was a health issue, or a behavioral problem, or something else...

This board is a wealth of information, but you need to step back and take advantage of it by reading, reading,reading. You are about to get yourself kicked off this board because you have made some dumbass posts. Just chill out a bit and do some reading. You'll be surprised what you may learn...

Yikes!! I just re-read this post. Sounds like I'm saying Cesar Milan know more than almost all the people on this site. Not what I meant at all. I meant Cesar AND almost all the people on this site know way more about handling aggressive dogs than I do. Sorry about that.

I would think anyone would know their dog after living with and training them for as long as Lynne has had Chula.

Just as I know my dog isn't dominant or aggressive but he will take any liberties he can including pushing things too far and causing another less than tolerant dog to 'take him down'. Which is why doggie daycare is out of the question for us - not that we would anyway.
