It must be troll season.
A micro pinch collar is a great invention and can make the toy dog experience a better one if it's needed. Emphasis on the if it's needed.
Jillian mentioned the idea of a dog looking like a yo yo on a pinch. I find it far more likely in the small dog that this would be the case on ANY collar being over used or a correction on a very light dog using even a flat collar. Either way it is wrong. But ANY tool used incorrectly is a bad idea
I have a very tiny dog who was my first introduction to small dog training and it was an amazing wake up call to try to find a applicable correction for a 3.5 lb dog that would not be overkill to the dog's spirit and body. A standard leash pop was not a solution. It would send the dog into orbit so I settled on a touch correction which happily was effective on such a soft dog. However if that did not work I would have needed a pinch collar since the pressure applied would have been way more humane than the alternatives.
This is of course the OP intention was to address dog training as it's prettied up by PETA or any other nonsense wielding organizations or dog training as real life would have it.

I'm curious - to the OP have you ever heard/seen the damage caused by a choke chain collar verses a prong?
The difference is dramatic. See, all the energy put into the correction on a choker happens at one spot - where the chain passes through the ring. Used inproperly, severe damage to the dog can occur. Used PROPERLY, muscle damage can occur - both long and short term.
For a prong, not so much. All the energy is spaced out along the entire collar. Yes, you COULD cause damage to the dogs' neck, but since it takes a LOT less effort to correct the dog, it is less likely.
Plus, someone that is just too heavy handed with their corrections enough to abuse a prong collar will probably also be able to manage injuring the dog with a flat collar too.
Like many things, the tool is not to blame, it's the one holding the end of the leash.

The OP needs to go to some store that sells these torture devices (prongs), find the correct size and put it on her arm and jerk on the lead for all she's worth, then do the same thing to her sceptical husband, and then do the same to her 7 year old son. The looks of shock and disbelief from the lack of pain will be astounding.
That is exactly what I did when I got my prong from Leerburg.
Maybe required leerburg reading with a test would be in order before people could post on the forum, it might slow the trolls down a bit.

would this be the reason the invisible fence was first created?
