Yuko, I know that sound quite well because Rasta (older dog) makes it with the Kong. I lol'd. Alyssa actually recommend the orbee in another topic and I've seen it briefly in a few clips. It's on the list.
Next month I plan on...
Medium Orbee
Medium tug
Building Drive and Focus
Bite Training Puppies (or would Beginning Steps of Bite Training be better since he's already 4.5 months?)
Lol, another place you can see the orbee is in my sig pic. Notice how it's stuffed in my dog's mouth? Can't seem to get a pic of him without the damn ball. Those two are inseparable
Actually, the "bite training puppies" and "first steps of bite training" are older videos. I don't have "building drive and focus" but I have "preparing the dog for the helper" which is where I found everything I needed to fix some minor mouthing issues in my dogs (their genetics gave them good grips, so it was pretty easy to fix the minor glitches I had caused by my inexperienced handling ).
A lot of the advice in "first steps of bite training" is contradicted in the newer "preparing your dog for the helper" DVD. I'd stick to the two newer Flinks DVDs and forgo the older bite training ones.
It's not just my opinion, you'll even hear Ed say things like "this is much better than how we used to do things in protection" when narrating his newer DVDs, referring to some of the advice given on the older DVDs.
"First steps of defense" is one I found really useful too. It's one of the older ones, but it's really helpful in teaching you to read a dog's body language and distinguish between a dog's mindset in prey vs. in defense. Essential background knowledge to have when even thinking of getting involved in protection work.
Obviously you can't do defense work on your own dogs, but it's a good idea knowing what to look for and what kind of training to expect before you get into that with a helper so you don't go into it completely blind.
