"While I was in Iraq, I paid this woman $500 a month to help give my husband a break, by watching my son during the day, a few days a week."
Education is expensive !!!!!!!!!
Now you know who NOT to count on. Sorry your son had to go through that but kids are made of rubber at this age and he will bounce right back.

One good thing: This can be a springboard for your son to hear about how it's always better to speak up and ask if something is making him anxious or frightened ... and not keep it inside and let it fester. He did good.
***So today, after getting home with him, I was preparing my dog's dinner, and he pops out with, "Natalie says Danke shouldn't eat raw food. She should eat dog food so she doesn't get sick and die."***
Alyssa, I just cannot imagine any adult person being stupid and sadistic enough to tell a 4 year old child something like this. Especially the "get sick and die" part.
Is it possible that you son overheard a conversation by accident? Maybe Natalie was talking to someone on the phone?
If she actually lectured your four year old son, and convinced him that you were killing his pet, I would have some strong reservations about any child being left alone with this person again.
You just don't say things like that to a child, not if you are a halfway intellegent, normal, human being.
My husband and I are going to take Keith (our son) on a trip to Wolf Haven this next weekend, so he can watch the wolves eat, and talk to the biologists there.
I think he probably did "overhear" a lot of this stuff. More than likely, Natalie was probably talking to her older kids, and denigrating raw, and he was around. Keith is always listening, even when he looks asleep, he's listening.
