Pup was very interested in the bird. Picked him up right after that pic was taken and trotted off with it. Hubby is using the wings to practice retrieving with him. He is looking promising so far.

I'm picturing the proud, "look what I've got" puppy trot right now.
Our Lab has gotten to go hunting with my husband a few times this year, his furst time hunting(the dogs). He can kick up the birds, but hasn't quite figured out the bring it back thing-he goes to the bird and makes sure it's dead(will crush the neck if it's still alive). But it's only his first year hunting in ND. We had got him while we were in WY, and not much bird huntiing there. I still haven't gotten pics of him and his birds.
No official weight but estimated at about 130 lbs. She wasn't the biggest in the herd but the only one who gave me a shot. My brother was with me and he's never killed a deer so I gave him first shot. Because the weather was so bad and the deer were staying tight and not moving, we had to do a drive.
Out came eight of them and after my brother missed two shots (buck fever) I did my thing. No ground shrinkage on this one cause we were eye to eye at 50 yards.
I always clean my deer immediately but those Illinois boys talked me into letting her hang for a day. I'll never do that again...cleaning frozen deer in 22 deg temps was no fun at all.
