SO sorry...I feel like I thought and spoke that one into existence about the couple scenario! YIKES how can people be so dumb...well let's hope that she makes him see sense and that you have what sounds to be a puppy that is rightly yours on Sunday...
Is offering some money an option to help them decide to get a more appropriate companion? You might suggest a stuffed soft toy at this point as they are both so clueless!!!! Poor BABY is what I say, they will be calling NANNY 911 before the child is much older....Keep us posted won't you
I would offer money if I could, but I am helping my parents with their house payment this month (and probably next ... due to their job situations things are VERY tight for them right now) and have promised them my extra cash. As much as I want to get that pup into a situation that is better for him, I just can't offer money right now, family has to come first. Food and medical care won't be a problem, I can afford to take care of him, just can't buy another dog right now.
Connie, I work from home also, otherwise I could never consider taking this puppy on as I wouldn't have the time to give him either. I wouldn't want to take him out of a poor situation and put him in another that is the same. I also already have a young puppy who is fairly demanding (not a malinois ... don't know if I could do 2 mals at once, lol), if I didn't have most of my day to devote to dogs, another puppy just wouldn't be an option. I normally wouldn't consider 2 puppies at once anyway, but in this situation I'll make it work. I've done it before out of necessity (rescue dog), I can do it again even though I swore I never would. It's going to be a lot of work, but will be well worth it.
While I don't think that puppy is in a good situation and am frustrated over how they are handling things, I do have to give her credit for one thing. When I first called she did question me pretty well and make sure I was familiar with the breed and would be able to handle a psycho dog. At least she wasn't just looking to give him to the first caller. Now I just hope that they realize that they really need to rehome the dog. I can understand why she would be overwhelmed, I can't imagine a 5 month old malinois and a 5 month old baby! That would be worse than 2 mals at once ... I'd definitely go crazy.
I just checked and their ad was back up for the pup, so I call immediately. I guess they decided to keep him, then decided not to. They apparently had someone from the base that was going to take him last night and never showed up so they are looking to give him away again.
I am supposed to call her between 4:00-4:30 to confirm where we are meeting when she gets off work. After all this I am trying not to get my hopes up and get excited, but I want this puppy and am getting excited anyway. I am hoping that it works out this time.
I still didn't ask about the breeder or papers. I'll ask when I call her back and confirm that we are meeting. I want him whether he comes with his papers or not as I don't really intend to breed him even if he titles and passes all clearances, but papers are always nice.
Keep your fingers crossed for me (and the pup) that it works out this time. I will, of course, let you guys know what happens after I talk to her and after I go to meet her.
oooh ... and another thought ... if anybody has any name ideas, he's going to need a new name. Sarg just won't do ... he would outrank little old civilian me!
Good luck Elizabeth! Sounds like he needs a good home. Mals are a great breed but, like Cindy said, they require an energetic owner that has time for them.

LOL I'll bow out of this one.... my puppy was born in my home and he was 10 months old before he had a real name (other than "the puppy") LOL!!!!!
My cat died at age 16 and was called "kitty".....
Anyway I am thrilled for you, but find it strange that she put the ad back up without calling you first to see if you still wanted him. And isnt her husband still away? hmm... anyway... I hope she does show up and give you the little maligator... he really needs it.
