She weighs almost 50lbs I believe, they weighed her there. Here is what they gave me: http://www.petfooddirect.com/store/product_detail.asp?pf_id=20540009&dept_id=170&brand_id=624&Page=
The ingredients are different from that site on my bottle though, they are: Ingredients: Fish Oil, dl-alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (source of Vitamin E), Cod Liver Oil, EPA 111mg, DHA 74mg.
It's one for medium sized dogs. They told me to feed 1-2 and it says on the bottle to feed 1-2 per 30-60lb weight. The pills are 1100mg each. I have grizzly salmon oil in the mail, should arrive anytime.
Huh, I didn't know dogs would like that, I'll be getting some next time I go to the grocery store then.
After a couple weeks, if it's not clearing up I will switch her to a grain-free food and cut out all her treats with them in it.
Thank you! I can't wait until I get my new camera on christmas. I'll be taking some good ones of her and making me a sig too.

I disagree with the dosage. It will be good to have the Grizzly oil and to follow the Grizzly dosage instructions, which are in line with the 1000-mg-per-ten-pounds protocol I mentioned.
The caps they gave you: I really don't like to buy a fish oil product that does not give the source (kind of fish and geographical area) as well as the processing method, not to mention, depending on the type of fish, information about heavy metals. Now, this may all be on the bottle, but it's not on the link.
Have you found a derm vet?

Thanks Connie. For now I guess I will feed her 4-5 capsules every morning until grizzly gets here and then that brand will be the only kind I will buy. I like the way the pump works so you don't have to sit there and feed them eat each pill.
Reesee likes to spit them out, pick them up and chomp them and spit them out again over and over until she finally just swallows so I just ended up stuffing them in hotdog chunks that she wolfs down whole.

Just a quick update. Starting yesterday she is back to itching almost constantly. Her dandruff flared back up and her hair is just dull and almost a grey color, just looks generally unhealthy. Guess the shot wore off.
Also I noticed her nose is pretty dry and warm. I make sure she has water at all opportunities but it doesn't seem to help. I keep a small space heater in the room her crate is in-it's the computer room and I put it under my desk to warm my feet when I am at the computer but she's across the room when it's on most of the time. Sometimes she is tethered to me here but the heater is blowing on me. I only run it when I am at the computer. Maybe this could affect her? Should I remove this? Maybe buy a humidifier?

Also found a flea on her tonight. Her frontline treatment is due in days, I'm wondering how they can still be breeding even though her, the other pup and the cats have been treated solidly. I'll be taking huge measure to treat the carpets with powder and clean her crate and area several times a week. Anyone have any other ideas?

Sometimes, for whatever reason, Frontline either doesn't work at all or stops being effective. Same thing goes for Advantage. Actually, I've heard it said that all the topical flea medications are less effective than they once were, maybe because the fleas are becoming resistant?
My understanding of the topical flea meds is you don't want to apply them right before or right after a bath. The natural oils present on the dog's skin is what helps distribute the medication effectively and shampooing strips the skin of oil. If your dog's coat and skin is extremely dry this *might* make the meds less effective.
In your case, Heather, I would stop Frontline and try Advantage to see if that works better. There are also monthly oral flea meds you can get from your vet and a one-time flea med called Capstar, which literally makes the fleas fall off dead within a half hour.

Ouch, my boyfriend just ordered a 6 month supply of frontline!
I will look into something else though, maybe I can order advantage or advantix for a couple months then use frontline again. I've also been looking at sentinel since I noticed it stops flea reproduction. That way at least if a few fleas are somehow surviving the other meds at least they can't make a breeding ground out of my home.
The vet told me to give her benadryl so I may go buy that soon. Poor thing's itching so badly.

Hey Connie, I was thinking of posting an update and came here and just noticed your question. I was going to wait one more week but I feel awful for her.
The itching is still there, no better. Noticed her waking several times in the night to violently chew somewhere on her body. Still has an odd greasy smell. I've had grizzly for awhile and she gets 3 pumps( of the 32 oz bottle )a day and a vit E pill as well. I quit giving her the fish oil capsules the day grizzly arrived and switched immediately.
More hair loss on her tail, it's moved further down. Also noticing she's losing hair on her thighs as well. Her rump is still being chewed and wiry looking. Her shoulders, legs and head are pretty shiny and healthy though, they feel softer, I'm assuming because of the oil.
She still has dandruff along her rump and tail and it flakes off when brushed, her hair there has a dusty look from tiny flakes, making her hair look greyish.
The couple times I've given her a bath didn't seem to hurt, should I bathe her more often?
Tonight before posting I gave her another once-over for fleas around her rump but I couldn't see much through the chewed undercoat but brushed nothing out. I did take pictures that aren't on a camera phone though.

Notice in the second one that her nose is dry. It doesn't crack or peel but it always has a dry, warm feel to it and looks like she's dehydrated because it's so dusty looking. I give her water at every opportunity and in the picture the tip is only moist because she had just gotten a drink before it was taken.

I'll suggest this again: You dog needs to see a skin specialist...a Derm vet, IMHO. From the date of your first post this has been going on for 2+ months with no real improvement. That's a long time for a dog to live with such bad itching.
And it's worth repeating again that regular GP vets are not the most skilled with skin issues and don't know the best way to treat them.
I have a lot of sympathy for you and for your dog and it sounds like you are doing everything you can to help her. IME, after a certain point a doctor needs to be involved because there is too much going on for anyone to treat on their own.
