.... for all those people that just let dogs get away with setting their own boundries, this stuff can be a first step to learning a better way.

... She does do a bit of training but as with CM's show she's more about teaching leadership. ... Without that, dog training is nothing more then controlling the dog with force.
I've seen this program only a few times, but this would be my take too. Demonstrating leadership is an extremely positive thing.
JMHO. In my own experience, lack of leadership by the companion dog's owner is often the entire problem. When it's not the whole problem, it's almost always still a big part of it.
In her own way (did someone say that she was an actor-slash-dogwalker turned expert trainer?), which I do not categorize as even in the same realm as CM's talent (whose episodes I always see), isn't she at least demonstrating who is supposed to be running the house?
Of course, there is this, too:

..... don't they realize that it is a TV show! A pre recorded, edited TV show.
I don't think she is so bad, She introduces people to things like clicker training and positive reinforcement for desired behaviors and also as a way to change unwanted behaviors.
Something as simple as getting people to walk and exercise their dogs makes a huge difference and its something that many people don't seem to understand.
Some of what she does annoys me because she freaks out over things like prongs or electric fences, but for the most part for the novice dog owner her methods are safe and easy.
But she is missing the all important spanking gloves!!
Don't worry, she has them when she drives!
I agree that it's nice she does positive, but IMO she takes it overboard. She is what I would consider to be a purely positive trainer. I have NEVER seen her administer a physical correction. But I also have to keep in mind that it is TV, as previously stated, and they could just be editing that out. I guess I agree w/ about 60 percent of what she does in the context of a realtively aggressive dog that just needs pack structure, 80 percent for a house pet, and if she ever tried to train to train a seriously hard, handler aggressive, dominant dog, I would guess I would agree w/ her about 1 percent.
Maybe that was a tad confusing...sorry.
