There may be parts of her that aren't ideal for a GSD, it doesn't mean that she is not a pure GSD, could just be that she is the result of 'pet' rather than work or show breeding. All dogs even within a breed are individuals, some GSDs have soft ears, doesn't mean they are not pure-bred.

There he is! 1922."Here is a picture of a Brindle German Shepherd taken from Brian Wooton's book on the GSD dealing with origins. More information will be available soon."
I used to own Boxers, so I'm familiar with the brindle pattern.
I don't know why I thought the pattern was similar.
I guess, never having really seen brindle on a longhaired dog, I was picturing it looking like sable.
It doesn't help matters much that my dog has brindle-ish markings around her neck and rear legs.
Tanith--
Although I don't know her background or what she may have been bred for, she does have some serious prey drive and is a very high-energy girl. I am thinking of getting involved in some kind of agility, tracking, or other dog sport in the near future.
Yep, she looks like a gsd to me too. I think most people when they think german shepherd they think of the classic Rin Tin Tin look or something. I always get asked what my dogs are, I guess because 2 are all black with one being a long hair on top of it and one black/red long hair that is X LARGE to boot. She looks like a great dog- have fun with her
