I got brave and took his temp, I have never done that before...he didn't like it any better than I did, but we got it done
his temp was 101.3,
it is little warm in the house today so that might be why it is slightly elevated.

Warm-blooded animals don't have temperature fluctuations based on the ambient temperature unless they are actually verging on death from it. (Like humans -- their average of 98.6 doesn't go up and down with the weather.)
The dog's average is 101 to 102.5, and 101.3 is pretty much the average.

BTW, I think it's a good thing to have a thermometer for the dog. It can be the deciding factor for me when I am weighing whether to watch and wait another day or call the vet now.
For example, if my dog had symptoms of kennel cough, an elevated temperature would make me call the vet right away.

I have 3 digital thermometers, all the same. I can never remember which one is the animal one (try not to be jealous of my organizational skills ), so I keep on buying new ones if I get sick. Eventually I decided unless I was near-death, I don't care what my temperature is
I'm glad his temperature was normal though. Is his throat still getting better?
Teagan!

You could use a Sharpee to mark one of them for human use
or put a sticker or something on it near the end that doesn't get used.
I have no room to giggle though, I should have like 10 thermometers because I keep buying and loosing them...I think they go the same place as my son's socks!!!
It is still really raspy and hoarse, and he seems to be trying to clear his throat when he talks to me almost like we would,
Its totally different from the cough he had when he had kennel cough though, not a horking or a sneezy sound, more like little grunts. with the kennel cough I thought he was choking at first and was ready to rush him in, this is not nearly as bad.
He is such a very very vocal dog it is so weird for him to be so quiet!!
He has pottied two more times and both were loose but not as runny as the first.
The upset tummy might be stress related though, from being boarded and in a strange enviroment.

We just got back from our evening walk and he had nasty almost explosive runs.
He still is not running a fever and he is drinking fine and asking to be fed.
I don't think it is too serious but I cant tell he doesn't feel well.
I am going to give him until about noon tomorrow and see how he is then take him in if he doesn't seem any better.

Now this may be a way out there idea Jen, but is it possible that he might've swallowed something, or got a lick or two of something that irritated his throat and is now causing his runs?
Not poison, but maybe he got into something while he was being boarded (some sort of cleaning solution or something along those lines) Maybe they washed out his kennel and let him in before it was completely dried and he might've licked the floor and ingested something?
Just a thought. It's the "run's" part that has we thinking that.
Don't complain....TRAIN!!! |

It's possible, he is a floor licker which is partly why I only mop with vinegar and water.
He seems more himself this morning, I fell slept on the couch last night with him in the rooom so I would be here if he needed out and he woke me up to go potty standing there with his nose touching mine and grumbling.
I tried some rice this morning and he turned his nose up at it, so I poured warm broth over it and he still turned his nose up at it, so I mixed a bit of hamburger in it and he just huffed at me like he I was insulting his mighty carnivoreness and walked away.
He doesn't do starch

He is doing fine now, chewing a knuckle bone (he was driving me crazy), and being his usual naughty self. His poop was normal logs when I took him out at lunch time.
His voice is still hoarse but still no coughing or wheezing.
I'm glad he didn't keep getting worse, Ive had my fill of doggy medical problems for a while!
