Tracey,
I'd say sure bring the pup along if you want. You can limit the amount of exposure he gets. It does get to be a long day though. But if he's comfortable in the car he'll be fine, just get him out now and then for water and a ummm, sniff about.
What do you want to socialize him to? People? Other dogs? Chickens? Pea Hens? Gun fire? Rabbits?
Thanks Randy! I'll take socializing to all of the above. Although he should be getting used to chickens here, we have plenty of 'em. I'm bringing him....
I plan on attending. I hope to be there all three days.
Connie: yes down near there, very close to Randolph I think.
Julie
Very good Connie and Julie! Randolph it is. I am within a half mile of Quincy to my left and Braintree to my right. Smack dab in the middle of the Blue Hills.
Connie,
Are you familiar with the area? You'll knock me over with a feather if you tell me you are related to Mark Sutherland.
Just wanted to let y'all know that I attended the seminar yesterday and it was just AWESOME! This man has an incredible gift, both with dogs, and communicating his teachings to their human counterparts! I learned so much, both from his lecture portion and watching him work the dogs.
There were police handlers there with their K9's, Sport dogs, PP dogs, and just your average Joe's. It ranged from Mal's and Shepherds to American bulldogs, Australian shepherds and even a PBGV.
Michael Ellis is just an awesome all around guy! Such a good teacher! He just made everyone feel involved and engaged everyone, no matter their skill or experience level. Funny too. He's got a great laugh that totally infectious.
My one regret is that I didn't bring my camera! I had the opportunity to get some great shots. He used the audience when he worked the dogs, and at one point I had a Mal engaging Michael about a foot and a half from where I sat. So cool!
I hear he is coming back next year. For those of you in the northeast, you should really try to go. I'll be there again for sure!

yep, It's all true. Michael Ellis really is a rare find in the world of dog training. He combines the best of dog training with the best of teaching.
We don't have any working spots available at our seminar in June but plenty of auditing/spectator positions. We're going to be having a great time here in Wisconsin in June.
I am super exhausted (went all 3 days, and even to the one in Littleton MA on Thurs to audit), but had a blast as always.
Michael is super talented and always makes me feel comfortable. His teaching style as well as his ability to break down exercises into small parts is unmatched. I always leave the field with a big smile on my face. Probably because I enjoy laughing at myself and with Michael when I'm out there with my dog.
Saturday my dog was so hot he couldn't do much, but he still managed to bite well. Sunday was even warmer, but it didn't rain! Fred actually made his big butt over the barrier bite too. That's my boy!
Tracy: I think you might be talking about Scott Dunmore's little mali; Voltaire. He is indeed a beast!! He is an incredible young dog. I was the one videoing the session.
I met some really nice people and enjoyed myself thoroughly.
Thanks to Scott Dunmore who no matter what always keeps a positive carefree attitude. Even when having to deal with me as a lose it a little bit trying to get things ready for the seminar.
