Thanks. I originally got Andy for show. He finished when he was around 2 and I showed him for a short while after that. The schutzhund came about almost by accident.

He said could be faster on the retrieves but he came in straight, didnt mouth, and held it tight to my legs all three times. I didnt have Andy's attention or focus at all heeling out to the starting position. I should have just stopped and made sure I got it back before I started. The right start matters a lot with him, it carries over to the whole routine quite a bit.

Steve, you've got the right attitude there - trialing is an expereince in itself and to be willing to learn from each "oops" moment during a trial, well, that's where the real progress will be made.
Hey, you went out there! Good for you. I've been involved competatively in other disciplines but I gotta tell ya, my schutzhund trial was hand's down the most nerve-wracking!
But at the end of the day, you've learned something about yourself and built on a relationship with your dog! That's the kind of progress that only comes from the "doing"! Keep up the good work.
