Yeah, thats true. We have a similar law where I live. And I guess just declaring on a 13000 member forum they are protection dogs with over the top fight drive isnt something that would stand up in court. Lol.
That might work if they hadn't seen the contrary over the past 4 years of me living there. I try to keep my distance, but when people insist on waltzing into my garage like they belong there, what's a dog to do? I have never had an unwarranted bite, thankfully, but I have had a few scares...though all on my property and all with pretty extensive provocation, which is probably why no one has ever formally complained...only the random gossipy bitching. Children tell EVERYTHING that goes on in a neighborhood...and kids like me, even if I am the crazy dog lady.
It's only Caleb. No one has said anything about any of the others, but he's by far the most obnoxiously unfriendly. If I were to humor them and let them pet him, they'd probably be fine w/him, but I think if someone wants to pet a dog they can get their own. Why do they need to pet mine?
They don't like Sim b/c he's a Pit, but he's done nothing. I admit to antagonizing a bit. I will tie Caleb on the front porch to discourage the "stop and chat." He's highly territorial, so that works nicely. And last I checked, I'm allowed to have an unfriendly dog safely confined to my own front porch. I'm kind of a hermit, and I have zero interest in socializing w/the neighbors. I have to pretend to like people all day long to earn a living, and when I get home, I want to hang out w/my dogs.
Why do you continue to try to provoke me even though I continually ignore your sarcasm and answer you as if you're legitimately asking a question? LOL! I like persistance...I must say.
I was referring to the guys I used to hang out 'n train with before my friend retired...but I don't know where they went to school. They were old school guys, waaaay older than us kids, who like a dog to fight a bit and not be a "sleeve sucker" as they called it. The newer generation ain't terribly fond of the dog, but that's ok by me.;-)
Will was contrasting what police look for as opposed to sport trainers, which is why I threw that in there.
I don't know $h!+ about their ways. Not terribly interested in them, personally. But they were a nice group of guys I met when I sold the director of K9 training a house. Just nice down-to-earth guys who were fun to hang out with, lay tracks, do a bit of casual bitework, barbeque, etc.
I simply remarked that old timers consistently seem to like a dog that younger people consistently do not. 'Cept me. I tend to be difficult and go against the grain, if for no other reason than it's FUN! As if you don't know this.
