Geez, Michael, I was posting to support you, then I saw that you could be mistaken for a puppy beating, kid hater.
Oh, well, I'll post any way.
It is not the responsiblity of Linsey or anyone else to explain/correct/rationalize or anything else to someone else's child, or dog for that matter. Nor would I take too kindly to someone explaining, correcting, whining, groaning or anyting else to my child or dog.
The parents should never have let the child go toward the dog, period. They made the choice for their child. All choices come with consequences. The dog owner simply did what any reasonable, responsible dog owner would do. Period. Get over it.
Maybe that makes me a kid hating, puppy beater, too.

I don't like this at all. All caps is "shouting," and the personal attack is inappropriate.
QUOTE: Michael...YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT? ANY NORMAL 4 YEAR OLD CAN BE TAUGHT ANYTHING, THEY ARE LEARNING SPONGES."
In a seconds-long encounter with a deaf stranger ( any stranger!) in a waiting room?

In dog training (or just daily life with my dog) if my dog does something that endangers it, like attempts to run in front of a car, I will correct the hell out of the dog.
Safety trumps any concern for feelings.
I'm going to bet a fair bit of money that the child did NOT feel verbally attacked.
Lindsay is Deaf.
It was incumbent on the parent, not Lindsay, to explain to their own child why they were not permitted to pet the dog.
Namely, because not everyone wants their dog to be petted.
Yes, it sucked that the child cried.
It sucks even more that the parents have allowed their child to be in dangerous situations, and then failed to explain to their child the danger.
Linday's responsibility is to her dog, not to someone else's child. It is not as though she physically restrained the child or yelled at her. She simply told her no. The parents (who should have been paying attention) should have stepped in at that point, apologized and explained to their daughter the WHAT and WHY of what had occured.

Thank you, Steve. I burst out laughing. All I could think of was that guy on SNL, Garrett Morris, who "aided the hearing impaired" by shouting whatever the actors had just said.

OK, you guys, don't make me laugh like this. You know I am an old woman with, well, problems that go along with being an old woman and you know what laughing, sneezing and coughing make me do. So, stop it!
