I just wanted to put in my 2 cents, for what it is worth.
One new place that I started to find great deals on RMB's as well as various meats, and organ meats etc, is the Asian food markets.
I was just amazed at how much cheaper the meats and RMB's are there. It makes a huge difference when you can get the food at an affordable price.
But certainly, if you decide to stay with the kibble, Nature's Variety has a good one called Instinct, and I believe that is also a very good choice for better quality.
BTW, Welcome to the board Patrick!
Your boy sure is gorgeous!
I agree 100% with Joyce - Asian markets are an awesome source. My wife is Chinese and we frequent one of the larger Asian markets in Philadelphia.
Since I just started feeding raw I haven't had the chance to shop there for Kaiser yet but I do recall the pricing being MUCH better in general for RMB and organs.
I just got that tip from another fellow forum member. I can not tell you the elation that I had going in there. A lot cheaper, and some good variety too.
I lucked out because there is one close to my house so it makes things even easier.
I have yet to try the raw smelt fish, but they sure look like an interesting addition to try for a change.
I am going to ask them if they will let me buy in bulk, say 40lb boxes. We just got a freezer so I now have plenty of room.
How do you feed them, being that they have bone in? It is too small to be considered and RMB's but yet still a great source of calcium. I guess I need to know how much for two dogs that are around 80lbs, and what would you feed them with?
I have only been feeding raw for one year, so I am a relative
"newbie"
I just give them to them. I've never used them as a solo meal though, always with some other stuff.
Does that make sense. I feed based on % of body weight....is that what you mean? I don't use them as a major enough source for me to worry about RMB vs.MM, etc.
