Is there a good vet school/teaching hospital near you?
I know when our hospital had a serious case or medical mystery our docs referred the case up to Davis. It can be expensive if you go there but the docs at a medical school are usually really good at diagnosing and treating difficult cases. They see a lot of unusual stuff.
It might be worth asking your vet about. At a minimum, your vet can consult with them by phone and fax Roo's file for them to look at.
I wish there is a vet school in Arizona. If I really have to take Roo to somewhere far like Davis vet school in northern CA, it will be worth to go. I am willing to drive that far to just find out. I think it will be my last option until the university of Arizona mircobiology lab didn't find out what's wrong with Roo by Thursday or Friday. I will talk with my dad to see if we could drive up to CA or Colorado Vet school to see what they can do for Roo.
I have considered going to University of Arizona where I know of several microbiology professors to get opinions or even give them samples. I don't know how they can help me. I just want an answer.
Sandy, I really like your suggestion. I can fax them all Roo's medical records. Hope they have better answer than two vets I have seen so far.

Well, we are waiting on the lab report about what kind of bacteria is growing in the abscess. So far I have some good and bad news, the good news is that Roo doesn't have a fever anymore in last few days. He started to act more like himself, more alert, show interests in playing with his toys, but the bad news is his skin starts to break down. His skin is getting very very dry and break out. He is developing flakes under his stomach and neck. He has nasty hot spots around his neck and it is pretty itchy. He is starting to give me some symptoms of severe allergies.
We have appointment tomorrow to see a vet who I used to work for a long time ago. I want to have allergies test being done on Roo to find out what he is allergic to. Roo is on raw/bones, take Vit E, and salmon oil. I'm not sure why his skin is breaking out. I have considered adding Vitamin C to his diet.

Is that on both sides of his neck? It almost looks like a collar wound. Does he wear a collar? I am wondering if he could be allergic to the collar material or had something get stuck in it. Wow, poor guy. Glad to know he is doing better, somewhat.
I am glad to hear he's improving!!! Keep us updated on the lab report and vet visit.
Good idea to get him allergy tested. My mom's cat was allergic to a bunch of random things, and it was the best way to determine some of those allergies.
