I'm not gonna lie, he's the best. Sure, he'd never make a SchH dog or anything more involved, but he's a great running partner, hiker and backpacker. He's not the brightest bulb around, but he is the sweetest. I like that Teagan has more drive, she's a lot of fun, same with Neb, but Luc has so much love in him you can't help but end up falling completely in love with him.
I doubt Teagan is strictly German Showline.
She's a backyard breeder dog, and probably a mix of lines, East and West, and American.
But the head structure she displays is common in Western Showlines.
They don't have tattoos (though Luc was put into a shelter at 6-9 months, so maybe to young for a tattoo, but still).
They were surrendered to shelters (I know non-BYB dogs get surrendered too, but I think it's likelier)/
Luc, while perfect, doesn't exactly conform to the GSD standard, personality-wise. At least, I wouldn't hold him up as a representative of the breed.
Teagan is actually pretty calm-nerved, other than with the whole 'killing dogs is fun' thing. But she is improving with that too! But I am trying to think of the last time I saw her phased about something not related to other dogs, and I can't.
Dog aggression is mostly a learned behavior, so I wouldn't hold it against her. 3/4s of the GSDs in my Schutzhund club are dog aggressive- they just have sufficient obedience to curb acting it out.
If we just turned them all loose, they'd kill each other.
Many breeders don't tattoo. I won't be tattooing these pups; their ears are mostly too dark for it to show, and a tattoo, while it is permanent, has to be decoded and understood by someone to get the dog back where it belongs. I'm chipping instead.
So, the lack of ID thing doesn't really say much either way.
