Is the skin (armpits, belly) thickening or darkening at all?
No. They are pink now instead of cherry red, but not smelly, thick, or darkening.

checking ears. I checked ears every other day and she had just been to the vets. Having said that, Wed and Thurs storming and miss Lucy spent her time at the kennel gate waiting for someone to come out and let her in--instead of in her box under the roof staying dry. She was sopping wet both days and I did towel dry her, but I think the combination of soaking wet, cool air, etc, just took it all out of her and yeast exploded.
I will be checking her ears every day from now on though. Hambone's I already do.
Apologies to Connie.
You suggested I check Lucy's ears everyday, and I bridled. I made excuses.
I 'poisoned' my own dog. I checked her treats. What I bought wasn't one of three I usually buy. It looked like the one, but when I checked the ingredients yesterday, it was turkey and oatmeal mixed with beef. I have no proof, but I do know Lucy and Hambone both itch more with turkey, and I know Lucy and Hambone can't have oatmeal. And being soaked in the rain just stopped what ever defense her body had left.
It nagged at me that I was defensive. It nagged at me when I was at the vets and I said she hadn't had anything different. It still nagged at me over the weekend and it nagged me yesterday.
I am sooooo out of my depths with allergies. You all try to help people like me and we (I) get defensive. I apologize.
Especially to you, Connie.
Lucy is much better. Toes are healing, skin is looking better. Ears better. She is gradually getting used to having lotion put on her feet and ears irrigated. Yummies during and after helps.
Thanks for caring about Lucy. Please don't let my defensiveness stop any of you from helping her.
Oh Jo, don't blame yourself, this kind of thing is bound to happen from time to time.
It is not easy dealing with allergies, even after all these years I am prone to crying fits if I really stop and think about how awful Nico looks. Time doesn't make it any easier to deal with a sick dog, it just means I know what weapons I have in my arsenal.
P.s. I've never read your posts as defensive or snarky in any way. frustrated and worried yes, but not defensive!
