They're 'just cats' to most people.
As much as I love my dog, my cat is truly my baby. It's not that I favor her, there's just something truly different and special about the relationships humans can have with cats.
I know we can't make it easier for you, but just know that the people on this board really do care and wish the best for you and your family.

Oh, no, no, not here! I love my cats for their gifts and uniqueness!
Jenni, I am so sorry to read this -- it's heartbreaking. I have had 2 FELV positive cats in the past -- at separate times -- both were rescued Toms. The first lived 3 years and the second I sadly lost after only 1 year.
I honestly didn't do anything special to maintain them back then aside from good care, a natural diet and no vaccines. Since I have gotten "The Natural Cat" by Anitra Frazier -- just referencing it quickly right now and she does have some recommendations for FELV.
If you don't have the book, I can try to scan the chapter tomorrow at work and e-mail it to you.

I'm so very sorry to hear this, Jenni.
And ditto what the others said: I'm a mama to 3 cats and love all 3 to pieces. It's especially hard when they're sick or hurt.

Wow I am so sorry. I lost my cat a couple years ago (two year anniversary coming up - from renal failure) and it's tough. I don't know anything about FeLV but, I hope Tsavo fights this. Best of luck.

I'm so very sorry for the outcome of this. My heart goes out to you.
I would be just as devastated as you if anything were to happen to my cat. They have a charm all their own. My thoughts are with you.

I've been reading this post over the numerous days and sending positive thoughts... I lost a "once in a lifetime cat" four years ago to a congenital heart condition. Cody, a BEAUTIFUL, sweet, more-dog-than-cat Maine Coon, was simply one of those animals that grace our lives occassionally... if we are really, really lucky. He was only six years old when I finally had to put him out of his misery. I still miss the big lug and his memory still makes me smile.
Jen, I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. There are no easy answers or words of wisdom, however, your cats are very lucky to have you as their mom. Whatever the outcome, you have done all you can do and they have been surrounded by love and compassion.
Hang in there.
