I've been thinking about this color thing (I pick weird things to focus on)...
If a dog can see yellow AND blue, shouldn't they be able to see green?? Its all the same mish-mash. If they can see those primaries, they should be able to see any mixture of them....
I will drink more coffee and then reconsider this when my brain wakes up a little.

... Second is that the ball is green. Not a problem for people but when I want my dog looking at a target I want them looking at a target that will stand out to them as opposed to a grey blob.

QUOTE: Dogs are unable to differentiate colors that appear as green, yellow-green, orange or red to people, and are unable to differentiate greenish-blue from gray.

Love being able to SEE the dog's eye spectrum, Connie. Thanks for finding that and posting it.
I've been buying orange toys as they're easier for me to see in the grass. I think Ripley actually uses his nose more than his eyes to find his toy if I've thrown it badly.

That's awesome to see the spectrum! I have a hard time imagining other views without seeing anything. Anyway I'll keep everyone updated. I'll probably end up using this ball and stick thing for a number of commands. Thanks again everyone!

I used to do this too, until I realized that if I bought toys that the *dog* could see, I wouldn't have to help them out as much if they had to look for it. (Yeah, I'm lazy, what can I say...)
LOL... so much for "heeling with markers" - sorry, Katie!
