Ok,Thanks.Thankfully i have done one thing right!.I have always made sure that he knows why a correction happens.I made sure he understood a command before a correction was used.I understand that you Can't correct for something they Don't know yet.I just was way to harsh with my first training.due to a trainer that was a nut.

Barbara,i do NOT want to make you guys think i came here for advice and am not listening, because i am listening. But how can i have no corrections at all?During the day he is in the office of our Auto repair shop and sometimes he needs a little reminder to mind.Nothing major even the noise of the choker links can give him the idea that He's being too excitable with people. He's very "Soft"and it does not take much to let him know....If only i had known that before paying over 500 bucks for a harsh trainer.
What would you do in a situation where a dog like mine needs a small reminder to behave?
I would think about training the behavior I DO want (using markers) and asking for it instead. Thinking about it before it even comes up (after all, we know our dogs and we often know what might come up repeatedly) can yield wonderful results.
Example: dogs who leap and bark when visitors arrive can be taught "doorbell" behavior of our own devising (bell rings, dog sits by door, dog is rewarded) instead of a forever ritual of "No no! Down! Off! Stop! I'm so sorry; he always does this."
Start over! I'll bet it's easy to forget how old the dog is due to his size, at 10.5 months old KC was ramming people at warp speed at work if i didn't have a leash on him. Dogs with mild temperament are a pain in the butt and you just need to remember it! Show him what you want with food or whatever he likes then reinforce the behaviour and don't forget to enjoy the youthful antics!
I have a dog that didn't understand the concept of "play" she always went into a serious "prey" mode, there was no "goofing" she's relaxed a bit more now.
