I know, it's the wild west! On a serious note, there is a lot of responsibility in owning a sidearm and if you are going to carry one, you better be willing to use it if need be. CCW is a must in my opinion to give you more credibility as a responsible gun owner

Wow!
Hope the dude didn't know you lived there. I wouldn't walk a diferent route though. I'd continue there. He's not going to do or say anything this time around.
Many owners/people don't counter well to what they perceive as insults. Obviously, you offered constructive criticism but probably clearly he saw it as an insult.
If you see him again, if you like, simply walk up to him (with a friend) and let him know that you weren't trying to be rude (even if you were). It's a state law to have a dog on the leash in Public property. If you like, appologize for comming off aggressive (though not necessary, but it will calm him).
A lady drove in front of my house the other day, made a U Turn and screamed out at the top of her lungs to Tie up my dog (boxer) or she's going to call the police. I felt offended considering this was in my half acre property and he's well trained and extremely cudley / friendly with all females and children (sorry guys). I told her to mind her own business and that this is not public property. She made a few threats and drove away.
Aren't people so friendly!? Geez.

Yeah. Not allowed in my state. Walking with a 70 lbs boxer works pretty well too.

Indeed. I've been a gun owner for 12 years, since I turned 21, and CCW my 9mm on my property regularly. I don't meet CA's "need" for an actual CCW, though.
If you aren't ready and willing to use a weapon, don't carry it. At that point you become a liability to both yourself and society.

Haha. A few months ago two guys, each outweighing me by 50lbs., thought they'd pull up in front of my house to threaten my person and ended up running three stops signs.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience. That is so horrible that people can be such idiots.
I walk my dogs in a 'village' of my hometown that is a very civil place, small town, know many of the people, first name basis with AC. Most people wave and compliment my dogs' behaviour. When I was walking the Cane Corso last week people stopped to ask about her.
Worst thing I have gotten was when I was driving in the bigger 'city' people asking if I wanted to fight my dog with theirs . This was when I had the Bullmastiffs and they either had 60# pitts or one guy had 160# Neos and one of the biggest Bulldogges I have ever seen. I good naturedly said I really didn't want to have to pay their vet bills and would start talking about their dogs.

Theresa, I am sorry this happened to you, and I am glad that you are ok.I am sure the situation caused you some fear.
I have had several bad encounters over the years and I must say that these encounters, I believe, have made me stronger and more prepared should they ever happen again.
Residing in a state with the Nation’s most restrictive gun laws, I must say that I am very vigilant, on the look out for potential threats, always scoping out for anything not ordinary. It appears to me that many people have lost their sense of alertness by being so preoccupied with other things - they have no idea of what is going on around them, putting themselves in the position of becoming easy prey!
I think we could all post to Kelly’s thread that our dogs remind us all the time of what it is REALLY like to be alert!
