Kongs are the most bang for your buck.I could spend half a paycheck on bully sticks and they'd still be devoured in 15 minutes, so those are a rare treat here. Kong-stuffing is a good game for dog and owner, imho.
This brings up a question I've been wanting to ask. I've always found Kongs hard to wash, especially when they've been stuffed with peanut butter or something really sticky like that.

Thanks for all this advice. I tried peanut Butter in a Cuz ball and forgot about the ball. I found peanut butter all over my floor :-(
I'm going to get a bully stick, though $11 with shipping is too expensive - I'll check locally.

I make my LB purchases all at once and stretch the shipping that way. For example, I stock up on their amazingly good assortment of marker treats (or anytime treats). I don't know any selection equal to this one: http://leerburg.com/treat.htm
If I were buying a video or book, or Grizzly Salmon Oil, or a leash or collar, I'd get the treats and bully sticks at the same time.

In a couple of months we will be in hinting-around-for-Leerburg-gift-certificates-for-the-holidays season.
LB keeps track of your balance, and you just give them the gift certificate number with your orders. And it doesn't expire (although I haven't found that to be an issue ... lol).

You could fill it up with low fat cottage cheese and a little bit of PB - much healthier alternative to a jar of PB.
Cottage cheese + canned sardines OR canned salmon
CC + tiny cubes of mozzarella OR cheddar OR any other dog-safe cheese
CC + tiny cubes of roasted turkey/chicken/beef/boiled egg
Cooked rice + canned fish OR egg OR cottage cheese
Mashed roasted squash + fish/cheese/egg
