It's about 90F and humid in VT right now...quite hot by our standards, and getting hotter in the next few days. Air conditioning is a very, very beautiful thing. My dog and I don't mind getting hot because we have the means to escape it. I think it makes a big difference.
While we're actually out though: Kool Collars (FABULOUS with crushed ice in them outdoors), H2O4K9 , and a few breaks in the shade make it all more better
I actually LOVE the heat and find winter/snow/cold kinda depressing. Winter is just so loooong.....It takes all summer to thaw the frost from my bones.
Live in Vermont as well and I must agree I will enjoy the heat and sun while we have it.. I'm not a fan of the cold/winter.. I'm 9 months pregnant (due 7/6) and I still prefer the warm weather over winter.. Not sure why I stay.... We have the kiddie pool and air if needed. Though I havn't used air yet...

I was pregnant in July too, my daughter's birthday is 7/30 (in '92). Like you, the heat STILL didn't bother me. Winters just feel so never-ending.
Growing up we never had AC; our houses were fairly well-insulated and they just never got terribly hot. I live in a 4th floor apt. now, so the AC is a must.
Dennis, my parents are Yankees that moved south....all the way from Vermont to Florida. They have central air AND a pool. I LOVE the climate down there and I keep threatening to stay with my parents until I find a place
Here in Colorado we have the 90s, but dry air. So, it cools down to 50s and 60s at night. Growing up here we never had AC. But, those who have moved here from other places, put in AC. At best you need it two weeks of the summer.
I think a greener alternative is just opening up the windows at night! I like that the dog is lazier in the heat - or is she just growing up and better behaved?

A/C is the worst thing that happened to the South since Sherman, it enabled Yankees to move down here and STAY!

I too had my son in July - 18th. Waaayyyy too hot for me; I was ready for them to cut my head off to get that boy out! Congrats on your newest and Happy Pushing!
My black, 100lb corso has a bad time with the heat since he's a house dog. I use GoDog during extra hot training and I got him a Chilly Buddy. People at training make fun of him but it makes a real difference in his endurance. Without it, you can touch his coat and it's super hot, with it his coat is actually cool to the touch. Chilly Buddy
