Quote ..Over and over and over and over, fear biting, fear avoiding. Broken hearted owners all over the place wondering why they didn't end up w/a dog who is reliable w/kids or a good protector.
It's all about sloppy, reckless breeding and it's finally fried me.
Where these dogs breed to do this type work, and had genetic problems? Or were they beloved mutts (mixed breeds)/pets that were placed in Protection training?
There are some rare situations were the mix breed can perform decent work. Most can't at one point I began seeing a lot of Aussies/chow mixes in this region in protection training class. Most failed or were hard press understanding what the helper & handler wanted them to do. The more open the exceptance level became (the fad and the need for cash) the less success. This what happen here, not reflecting on your training club.
So no contact or controlled sessions with the room mate and more OB will help the Spainel. Seems to be in order and maybe some dog drugs and a room mate whip. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
On the main issue of this dog I agree mainly with what Joy has said on the subject.
With this dog, I would do the following. Get the bullets, load the gun......JUST KIDDING ALL!LOL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
Seriously, get the dog checked by a quality vet. Then if the rage syndrome thing is ruled out, you need to read the articles that Ed has posted here on dealing with a dominant dog. The dog has been allowed to run the show and you need to fix this before you or someone else gets bitten.
