While Denver has a ban on Pit Bulls, I have not heard that you cannot get insurance if you own one. You do have to take out a liability policy for the dogs that are "grandfathered" in. AND, they have to live in a secure area and not come out in public...
ETA: of course, you see my fierce GSD We have no problems with insurance.
"Virginia law permits insurers to exclude from a homeowner’s policy coverage for any liability caused by a dangerous animal, but only with the insured’s written and witnessed consent. A dangerous animal is one that has bitten, attacked, or inflicted injury on a person or a companion animal. Animal breed does not determine if the animal is dangerous. The law does not prevent an insurer from underwriting the risk presented by a dog that does not meet the dangerous animal definition. Such underwriting can result in increased policy premiums or refusing to issue or not renew a policy, according to Mr. George Lyle of the Virginia Bureau of Insurance."
Unless your state has just been one of the states added...I know Ohio an insurance company can't discriminate.

I've been wondering the same thing Dennis... Don't relax however, the USSR is definitely alive and well and will get here all too soon.
Psst..Barbara... It's Randy that said that!
Pssst.. Tammy....It was Dennis who asked about the insurance in Virginia, and to which I replied "I've been wondering the same thing" and Randy who commented on the USSR...
