Oh, and just to let you know, I have searched high and low here in Tulsa, where I live, for canned pumpkin and there is none to be found.
Apparently the pumpkin crop last year was nonexistent and the canners of pumpkin countrywide had no pumpkin to can. So what we are doing here is all I can do with no pumpkin. I always buy pie pumpkins in the fall to make pumpkin dishes with throughout the winter, but all my frozen, cooked pumpkin is long gone.
so onward with the rice, broth and yogurt, for that is what I have to work with.

I am in tulsa too....howdy neighbor!
did you check Whole Foods, and also Big lots on 21st sheridan I have found it both places.
Canned squash works too if you can find it this time of year.
Actually I am pretty sure that boiled mashed butternut or summer squash (not zuchinni) would work for this purpose. Hopefully Connie will pop in and correct me if I am wrong.

That's just giant Libby and I think one other giant brand.
The small regional brands like you might find at natural food stores are still plentiful.
We've had threads here about this before, but I'm glad you brought it up again because I know folks must be looking for pumpkin in big supermarkets and not finding it.
There's canned plain orange squash, too, like Hubbard (same kind of store) and it's interchangeable for this purpose. Sweet potatoes, though, have much more natural sugar (probably 5 or 6 times as much as pumpkin) and are probably best avoided.

Just wanted to make sure you saw this, I know we discussed it, but I can't remember which kinds of squash are ok to use.
It is really difficult to find pumpkin here still. I ended up stockpiling it when I found it at Big Lots.

The orange winter ones like Hubbard and butternut.
Zucchini guts are one of my favorite items for everyday dog produce (soft, cheap, easy to get the outside off or to blend whole), but the summer squashes aren't in the diarrhea-fighter category.

Darn, I was just next to Whole Foods this afternoon.
Connie, Last night at 3 am my puupy yelped to go out and had brown water diarrhea again! No rice. I am thinking that my baited water had some fat in it that I didn't catch.
Today she has had no food again and only baited water. So far, only pee, no bm's.
It is now 5 pm and I am wondering if I should give rice gruel? I have to go vote in the primary elections, I will look for your reponse when I get back.

I might have missed it but has this pup been to the vet for a check-up.
After more than a couple days of upset tummy,or if it comes back that easily I always start to suspect giardia or coccidia.
Especially in a dog who has just come to a new home since stress can trigger a flare up of either of those

I have not taken her to a vet, I have had her vacinated at a clinic and bought her a broadspectrum wormer from a online provider of that sort of thing.
I want to take her to the vet, but I was going to wait until I had to for her spaying. I am just tryingt to save money.

I would not do the wormer while she has the upset tummy.
If it doesn't resolve soon with a bland diet I would want to get a fecal done. Let me know if you need the name of a great vet in town.

Yes, I will take her, I really just wanted to try the fast and then the rice. after that, the vet.
Should I try the rice gruel that connie had me make. I could mix it with the chicken water. she hasn't eaten since Sunday night at 6 pm, almost 48 hours now.
