Thanks for the invite, Dave.. I'm going to take you up on the Madison trip in the future. This weekend I have a wedding obligation to take care of, unfortunately. I'm interested in seeing these events though, so one of the next upcoming weekends I want to get out there.
I posted a few of the things I did while with him. Working with Ali's dogs, working with Chicago police K9s in tracking, drug dogs and protection. He is open to the public, does 1 on 1 classes, group classes and in-kennels.
We did some shows in the Mid-West won a few ribbons.
That is what we did while *I* was there with him. That is all I can speak for. If you want to know more go to his website, get his phone number, call him and ask. Seems to me to be the most simple and logical resolution to your question. I don't speak for other people that are not hear to defend themselves. All I can speak for is my personal experiences.
I understand. I just don't like talking for people. My information could be wrong, things could get lost in translation or misunderstood. A lot can change in 8 years.
I just think with something like this it is better to go to the source.
Personally, I liked him and liked what he did with the dogs. I thought he was good at what he did.
When I saw that the OP lived in Mels area, I just thought I would let him know about a possible training option.
I have not seen Mel since 2005.
Your misunderstanding a little about what Aaron is asking. Credentials would be something documented verifiable like Mel has titled x amount of dogs in various sports and venues over a 20yr career and is the training director for 2 chicago area obedience clubs that have competed successfuly in different levels of formal obedience. He attended the Tom Rose School and after graduating completed the xyz course at the Triple crown Academy.
Since becoming the head trainer for the Chicago Police Depts 25 dog k9 dept he has etc...
Accomplishments like that would put something on file and theres no disputing it.
I'm not saying anything in regards to your friend, he could be a great trainer. But claims and testimonials run wild in dog training. There have been quite a few "Worlds Greatest" that have passed through here.
