When you come across these people and dogs of which we speak......Do you ever get the urge to hide in the bushes with a blind sleeve on and pop out at the dog screaming your head off?
Charging like a madman at the dog and owner....then IF the dog takes a bite tag it with a cattle prod...or even just dump a bottle of water in it's face...........
I know I secretly do want to do this...but I just walk away grinding my teeth......
Just curious as I am researching PPD for my new pup that will be arriving shortly. Are you a trainer? If so, how many PPD's have you worked with or own . We have many of these in my area and I just don't get that vibe from the ones I have met.
*If* there was ever to be another PPD in this house, it would, like it's predecessor, not be trained to target the arm.
If the barking and the "I'm a very mean dog" act doesn't scare 'em off... they're willing to fight the dog.
Ed's "What I Would Do If Attacked By a Dog" article is out there for anyone to read.

Willie...
The first time I took my bitch out to Joe Kaplos's herding place, my husband and I about died laughing. He uses laundry detergent bottles filled with loose rocks to address handler aggression. Doesn't injure the dog, but the impact and the noise make an impression.
My husband's first PPD mentor used that as one of his proofing tools on PPDs.
Not shocking that Joe would have picked up on it though- he was a USAF Sentry Dog handler waaaaay back in the day.

I am a trainer...but I'm not training for the public right now...I am dealing with some serious injuries and before that was too busy raising my 4 children.
A PPD does not fit with my current life style, I don't have the time to maintain one.....
If I need that sort of protection I will just shoot the perpetrator my self...or taze them.
Do you have a specific question you Would like answered?
Will Rambeau is the person you want to answer...he is a real pro.....overseas sales that sort of thing.......very knowledgeable.
Thanks for the information. I do understand that getting this pup does not ensure that it will qualify for a PPD dog, actually the helper I plan on using told me a puppy is a "crap shoot", and suggested an older pup if I was set on PPD, and still no Guarantee that this will be 100 percent.

I am willing to give it a shot! \:\)
I'm in a horribly pissy mood due to leg pain so forgive me...but the odds of your pup working out are ridiculously low....and its absurd to approach a PPD this way.
Now if you want a dog and are thinking about training it in PPD if it works out, then that is different....BUT.......WHAT ARE YOU GOING OT DO WITH A HIGH DRIVE WORKING DOG THAT ISN'T UP TO PAR FOR A TRUE PPD?
That is a disaster unless you have made plans.
Aaron..I looked into clubs near me and think I found a good one..we want to title the doxie in tracking....little monster.
The training director trains sport dogs, PPD police dogs, has done contract work with the military, and likes kids...his daughter titled her Mal when the kid was 9. WOOOOT
I will have to wait for a month or so after surgery before we can go out and check it out...I guess we are stuck with dead rats tied to flirt poles till then.......
The point being..you are thinking of trying PPD some time...well I want to give a try some day with a ....gasp....SPORT dog...lol..never thought I'd say that!!!
"Stupid sleeve fixated hyper wannabe dogs!!! who wants em anyway...lol " was that my out loud voice??!??
I think you all have converted me..it just looks like so much fun!!!!!!!!!
