Don't worry Lori- I'm not going to rush anything, especially only for the sake of a title. No corners will be rushed, and no sacrifices made for the sake of a title. I'm just trying to get a practical idea of time. No reason behind it, just looking for someone's first hand experience since I'm new. We're going to go for our BH in the Spring (may have the opportunity in January, but I'm not sure we'll be ready) and I don't think we'll be ready for our SchH1 at that point.
Training and learning are the objectives- using the guidelines of the SchH tests as a check point. I'm not going after all this with the goal of getting titles on my dog. I'm doing this with the purpose of fulfilling his needs as a working dog, and then taking it a step further, to see how effective I am as a trainer.
We're just in it for fun, but will try and title when he's ready- also just for fun.
My family is still baffled at WHY exactly all this is fun. They don't understand why I am actively teaching my dog to bite... lol.
Ha I know family members! But it sure is fun isn't it! Keep us posted on your training.
I'm so thankful for a seasoned friend in dog training who would watch me gloat after a particularly good session...she'd smile and say: "Remember this when you have an off day, cause you will..!"
