I've gotten the rug type dog coat(very similar to the WeatherBeeta) from Jeffers Pet - very reasonably priced ( I think I paid about $12 for a BC sized one) and it's worked great for my can't-keep-fat-on BC in the winter. Smooth nylon on the inside, a layer of insulation and ripstop fabric on the outside. With a broad chested dog I would think you could make an extension panel for the front pretty simply.
I hope you haven't purchased one yet. I have this one for my dogs http://www.chicksaddlery.com/page/CDS/PROD/4950/CDB250 All the barn dogs have this one too. The price really can't be beat they hold up well and come in a size that will definitely fit your boy. My friends big 120lb boy has one of these.
Oh good heavens.......that is a nice one!!!with gussets too!!!!!!!and a wide belly band!!!!!!!!!
WANT...but wait..Eddie doesn't need one.....lol
That price is silly low....
GET IT!!!!!!
ETA: HA! the doxi needs one.....figured out how to buy one!!!
I might just have to order a coat for Loki after this, I don't know how he would react to wearing it but he gets really cold, even in our relatively mild climate since he only has a single coat.
And no, didn’t get one yet. Thought I’d wait till we got home and see if Willie had any further suggestions about the other ones, which she did and a great list of things to consider. Your vests appear to meet her approval as well. Seems Jennifer’s in agreement too. And they have that “ripstop” stuff Mara’s talking about.
And yes Betty, I hear what you’re saying. Having three boys, that was one of my first considerations and why I found the neoprene one so attractive. Nice and snug and short and not covering anywhere near the wee wee area. With this one, it looks like as long as the girth is cinched up nice and snug, there shouldn’t be any problem with a regular, cocked leg, directed stream. Garrett is fairly wobbly in this department but he’s usually got pretty good aim.
For those prices it's really hard to go wrong and they sound much easier to alter, should the need arise, than the full body suit I’m dealing with.
I’m sold!! Good stuff Julianna, and look at all the fun colors!! Oh my, more decisions. So I wonder which one would look best on a white pup. The zebra one might be kinda cool.
I'll bet your cousin's boxer will be pleased with the new warm, winter wear.
Bob thought the zebra one would look cute on Garrett too, so that's the one we ordered. I snuck in the Ladie's Outback Vest too. Almost wish I had a need for a saddle, you can't beat those prices.
The boxer will love it! My short haired mutt who won't stay outside longer than necessary to do his business will play all day with his on! And my GSD likes his for when we spend a few hours at the barn helps keep his achy hips nice and warm! Glad I was able to post a useful link!
