We have a problem with strays in my area. One dog in paticular likes to mark my fence line and it drive my dogs nutts. I have gone the lawful rout and contacted the owner, police, and animal control all to no avail. I cant shoot it because this is a residential area...so I decided to use my paintball gun. I've got a pretty nice one that will fire off multiple balls per second. I just kept the pbgun by the front door and when the dog came around i went outside and cornered him so to speak and fired away. It only took him going home covered in paint one time to get his idiot owners to keep him contained. It might sound mean but I honestly slept just fine after doing it and the dog has not been back since.
If you continue to have problems you can try this:
In my county there is an ordinance that states if a subject is on trespass notice from a property that also includes any of that subjects livestock or other belongings...in other words, if I put my neighbor on trespass notice and his dog comes on my property he can be arrested for violation of a trespass notice...pretty cool, I think...your local area may or may not work the same way...
(a trespass notice is different than a restraining order - it is a simple form or notice the officers deliver in person at the time of your complaint)
You might talk to your local authorities, ask them to research and see if your area has a law like this on a state, county, or municiple level...
also, if you are calling deputies out and not getting the response you are looking for then call the chief or sheriff directly...make them research and find out of there are laws on the books to address your issue...or go to your state laws website and provide them with the statute yourself...almost all states have them...
Also, one other thing...it doesn't take long for dogs to become immune to mace (even LE strength) so please be careful - don't be surprised if the next time you spray the dog it doesn't affect him...some dogs are immune by nature...although I have never met one immune to a 40 cal...never mind...
One of the things that I would do if I had your Rottweiler is to work with her away from the area this keeps happening in.It would be better for your dog in the long run.Obviously the neighbor is trying to antagonize your dog...and you..hoping that your big bad Rott or you will break a law. She is an idiot!!! Her dogs are not the problem..she is.A situation like this can escalate quickly. There are laws on the book for every area..but I don't have much faith in them as there MANY times are not a budget for them to enforce...especially when it comes to animals. If this was happening to me and any of my big bad shepherds..lol..I wouldn't expose my dogs to the "Meet"..because it will hurt their training...and enjoyment of it.Yes it is a sacrifice of freedom..BUT..somehow I would find a way..for the IDIOTS dogs to find a better home..given time.
