Well, I should add that the type of Hydrogen Peroxide you want to use is the 3% ONLY. That freezes at almost the same temp as H2O. The high volumes 20-40% freeze at lower temps, but you can't use those.
You might be able to have the exact amount frozen in small cubes that your dog could swallow. Though I don't guarantee that would work.

Yes, we link to Doctors Foster and Smith all the time. Aren't they great? I use that site for a first step in almost all research.
What I had in mind was one printable post that would contain the activated charcoal and hydrogen peroxide info/dosages as well as the info in Dana's post #312836 on page one of this thread .... all on a printable page not requiring internet access.
Connie, maybe people could keep adding onto this and then when all the common available drugs that can be useful and their purposes and dosages could be compiled and put into a form that could then be printed out and kept in vehicles, homes, barns, etc.
I know alot of uses for bendryl, aspirin, baby aspirin etc in animals and make sure I have all those available along with pepto and imbodium. For the horses I always keep mineral oil, liquid maalox, gas relief, etc around. Of course, always have bandaging materials and vet wrap stuff inside and out, also. Super flue for emergencies in a pinch, but actual tissue adhesive available in pet catalogs.

Connie - maybe after people have finished adding to this thread, all the common remedies, their uses and dosages, could be compiled into a page which then could be printed out and kept in places of easy access in case of emergency. Also, people could then stock up on items so they have them readily available.
I always make sure to have plenty of bandaging materials of all kinds around along with rubbing alcohol for pets with a very high fever or to treat heat stroke symptoms, aspirin (not ibuprophen), maalox, pepto, imbodium, mineral oil, gas relief rx, apple sauce (for horses), super glue (would prefer tissue adhesive which can be purchased from catalogs), saline (even just bottles on eye cleaner solution for flushing eyes or wounds out), clippers (for shaving hair away from wounds)..........
I pet/horse sit and request that my clients keep things like this available - especially when I'm there, so I can do treatment until I can get pet to vet or avoid a call I can handle.
Maybe Betty L. can add to the list????????

I would be happy to compile a list with the info that everyone has and then Betty could proof it? I'm going to OR next weekend and I'm taking the train so I'd have plenty of time to work on it while traveling. And I love doing research and putting together this type of thing.
Do you want links to the pic's as well?
If that would be ok just let me know :-)
I have a pet first aid kit. I can look at it and make a list of what is in it, too, if that would be helpful.
I hadn't thought about the clippers. That I do have - but if someone didn't have clippers available would a razor be helpful?
This has really made me think a little more about what I should have on hand. Everyone has really great input.

I just read this thread!
Mara, how absolutely terrifying. I can't imagine what you were feeling. So lucky the other member had the peroxide.
Thanks for the tip. I'll get some in my car today.

That was scary. I am glad everything worked out. I keep hydrogen peroxide on hand for the therapy visits. There are always pills on the floor, or a patient drops one while visiting.. You can never be sure the dog won’t grab it.

Mara, whoa, I can't imagine your situation on this side of the fence, or me doing any better than you did. Thanks that everything came out fine. And double thanks for sharing your episode.
From now on I will Cary a dog kit with me. Sorry it happened, but very glad all is A OK. Dan

Girlfriend: "Why do you have a Veterinarian in Montana programmed in the Jeep's GPS?"
Me: "I took Danke to Montana once. It was the closest 24-hour vet to the hotel."
Can't ever be too careful. Bolt cutters are nice to have, too, for the freak collar accident.
