No it's not a Malamute issue, it is a THAT Malamute issue, are you considering staying and putting your child in danger if they bring the dog back? Hopefully this doesn't happen, no-one wants to see you on the news when this dog does what it most likely will do!
I don't have a good feeling about where this will end up but hopefully it will be yet one more time I've been wrong. There just is no "maybe" in my book about this. If the dog comes back in August me and mine would be out of there.

We aren't moving out (sorry to everyone that thinks we should) but the dog has been removed from the house. The dog isn't returning while us and the baby are in the house and that is my rule.
?? This is the point. You and your baby OR the dog gone. No one said you AND the dog.
There is a point where we are going to be returning from a trip to Reno in august, (leaving in june). They are discussing bringing the dog back while we are gone and then discussing this again.
This concerns me. What are they doing with the dog in the meantime? If a permanent housing solution is not found for the dog (ie. it is just being handed around to different friends), I suspect you are going to be constantly fighting for your 'rule' about not having this dog back in your house. Not to mention the welfare of the dog in all this mess . . .
Google "infant deaths from Alaskan Malamutes" and show it to your roommates.
You can find a better place to live. These people may not be parents yet, they may not get it. You can make them understand.

Which is exactly what concerns me. I can almost hear "well, your baby is sixteen months old now so lets see how things go"...

With all due respect, this is a slippery slope towards blacklisting a specific breed, which I think is not right.
You could really do this with a great many dog breeds by Googling those names as well.
I hope we can all agree that the wrong dog ( one that is not child friendly ) or otherwise, that is not handled properly and watched around children all the time could be a potential danger to possible attacks.
I just hate to see someone reading and then making assumptions about that breed, because we are really talking more about behavior.
