I don't know about the best time to start using it, but I do know that Neosporin with pain reliever in it is miracle stuff. I credit that stuff to my lack of scars and taking most of the pain out of a couple serious wounds I have had.
Jessica thought about PM'ing this but it would not be enough as i insulted you in public so regardless of my ego or personal beliefs wanted to put it on the thrread where it started.
i reacted instantly n emotionally to your post - (unfortunately i'm like that in real life as well, keeps me in trouble with someone or other all the time).
you obviously take great care of your dogs n my comment was rude n insulting on a personal level which you don't deserve, for that bit i honestly apologise. hope that you can accept that we have to "agree to disagree"on this topic.
BTW i don't want to start a thread on the topic itself. good luck with yr cute pup n hope you can forgive my outburst.
I have had great success with 3 different crops and all were let to heal completely before taping and only one was standing right after sx like yours (mini schnauzer) The other 2 (bouviers) where not standing right after sx. All puppies showed little to no changes after sx running and playing once anesthesia wore off. I am no expert but I think your pups ears will stand with no problem, they may go up and down while teething.. Also some Bouvier breeders rarely tape at all and the ears stand beautifully(I am not that comfortable to leave them be and wait and see) I did use panalog ointment on the ears and taped but not for very long with any of the pups.... I also gave Glucosamine to help build cartilage on one pup Very cute pup! I do prefer crop but certainly also believe its a individuals choice....
We've had three in the past. This is the first time I've had the ears done.
The doctor wants me using vitamin e and neosporin with pain relief on the cut margins. I'm a little foggy on exactly what day I should start this. Like I said, they were still oozing a little last night so I don't want to cause any bleeding by messing with them too soon. I just gave her a fresh dose of pain meds. As soon as they kick in I'm going to take a closer look. She's got one slight crease in her right ear thats gotta get worked out. Thats going to be my project.
Peter, while I am touched that you are so concerned about our puppy's welfare, this is not a thread debating the practice of ear cropping. If you would like to start a separate one, then feel free. My pup gets excellent care, a great diet, and as much exercise and training as my german shepherd. Point is, there's a lot of dogs out there having a truly difficult time, in real abusive or neglected circumstances that deserve your concern way more than my spoiled puppy. You should put your compassionate heart to better use, as I promise
you, my dogs are well cared for and happy, with safe and secured futures.
The ears are doing great! They healed up nice. Just a couple little reddish spots left. We started posting due to a small bend in the ear about half way up and a slight backwards curl. I don't forsee having to do this very long as the ears are both standing like little soldiers. I don't have a very current pic of them to show as they are wrapped up now but here's one from last week and one a couple days ago: About 7 days after crop Tape Head
Hard to get a clear pic. Holding still just isn't an option in her opinion.
