I brought so many critters home when I was a kid that if mom saw even a bird in the yard she didn't recognize she's just smack me in the head....no questions asked.
Hey! Who's that strange bird out there with Lawrence and Chester?! Bob ...... ... ")

I used to manage an animal rescue- my Mother was VERY thankful when I got that job, (I was still living at her house at the time) because I had somewhere else to take all the critters I found.
I even found a horse wandering along the side of a busy road once. I keep halters in my trunk for occasions just like that.
Dogs, Cats, Quaker Parrots, Goats, 3 Chickens, Horses, a 5' iguana once.... I brought al kinds of critters home.

I aways seem to have to many as well. I wish we had space for two dogs but it just doesn't seem to be possible with all my chickens... Living in a camper is not always easy, anything I bring home is sure to be noticed very soon after. My dad says I better not think about bringing anything new home till I have found a home for some of my... 17 chickens. (17 chickens can get kind of smelly)
I plan on downsizing a little...soon

Pretty much!
There was a Screech owl that flew down the chimney and was sitting on the curtains in the living room. I didn't know anything about it but when I came home from school and walked in the house...!!WHAP!! "GET THAT DAMN THING OUT OF HER AND DON'T BRING IN ANOTHER!
Same thing with the bat that was flying around in my sister's room.......but I "may" have known something about that one.
And baby possums are NOT rats! I know for a fact because I...tried to make pets out of both. Rats can get a real pissy attitude.
Also! Don't EVER walk up on the porch with a big black snake around your neck if your mom has a broom in her hand.
Just saying!

Wow! You’re describing my life!
The Fox, Raccoon, and Skunk experience was worth the grief.
When I was being interrogated for the rehoming of a dozen or so snapping turtles, into an AFB public wading pool, was that you?

I guess I am so used to Paul's accepting nature... I never have to ask or even explain when I bring a critter home He actually bonds more quickly than I do with the new animal!!
So Kelly, have you brought home a bull yet?
No, Connie, but I am looking at a semi-retired Jersey cow for milk (for my cheese) Paul has NO idea yet....

I have the rather ummm... weird distinction of actually having been bitten on the NOSE by a snapping turtle.
Like Bob, I was the one bringing home every creature known to mankind.... muskrats, bunnies, birds, toads, snakes, stray anything... One day I found a "baby" snapper - maybe 5". My brother told me to ignore it, but noooooo, I was the little Dr. Doolittle and knew I could train the turtle to be friendly. Held that little turtle up to my face and looking him in the eyes, started talking to him how we were going to be such good buddies, yadda, yadda, yadda. Sucker bit me on the nose. Hard. I bled like a stuck pig and had a perfect little "V" shaped turtle-mouth-scar for far too long. (It was my pennance... having to tell folks the scar came from being bitten by a snapping turtle.)
My mother called the doctor to ask if turtles carried rabies - she wouldn't believe me that they didn't... go figure, not trusting the idiot who held a snapping turtle up to her nose.
