Geez! What if someone saw me correct Turbo and thought I was abusing him because THEY think I corrected him too hard?
It wouldn't be hard to picture someone wanting to "save" a dog from an owner who properly uses an ecollar or prong, would it? We've all gotten the "evil look" for daring to put a prong on our dogs...

I walked 2 miles on a busy road with Koe's Ecollar on today. I didn't get one comment on it, believe it or not! I was thrilled.
Ellen- I hope you are able to help this family/pup! Wether it's reporting them to AC, or talking to the kids parents.

Ellen, the best way to eliminate "he said, she said" is documentation.
Making a dog "disappear" fixes squat. Where does the dog go after that? Ask the hound Houdini's that. You can't fix anything then.
If something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. Stealing a dog only removes the problem from in front of your eyes. You don't know what happens after that unless you keep it and raise the dog yourself.
The more I think about it, this liberating that I keep reading here seems to only serve the purpose of "out of sight, out of mind".
I do wish you luck on this, Ellen. Please keep us updated.

... when we "help dogs disappear" there is no record on file of the individuals not being fit owners, so they can just go out and get another dog, and another, etc..
Yes, documenting advice (including video of the kid zapping the dog on the end of the retractable leash) is good advice. And still photos are better than nothing. And it's all better with dates, times, and comments logged right at the time.

Man, you guys are always so serious around here. Can't anyone ever throw any type of humor into a thread?
In all truth - the only way these people would be reprimanded was if this dog was beaten with a bat or starved to death. The law is not going to do anything but slap them on the hands and tell them not to do it again as the law sees cruelty differently than those on this board. It is very hard to get a ruling to even have an animal confiscated from an owner unless there is absolute proof of what the law considers cruelty.
My neighbor didn't feed her horses for 3 months. They have not had vaccinations or their feet done in the 6-7 years she has lived next door. I would love to post pics of her house - I call it Rancho Oso Grosso. Our neighborhood has called animal control on her (she did have 2 dogs confiscated), Maricopa Co Sheriff's Dept (MASH unit - Sheriff Joe), Humane Society, Buckeye Police Dept, etc and none of them considered this bad enough to take her horses away (backbones sticking up 2-3 inches, hip bones sticking out body scores of 2-3 maybe mine are 5-6). Finally took the Brand Inspector to come out and he wrote her up and told her if there was not hay on the property every time he came by he would take the horses.
Now, if the law won't intervene here, what makes you think they will with a dog being jerked by kids? And joking, even if the dog did disappear, or it was taken by AC they'll just go get another and another just like whatever happened to the little lab puppy before the JRT. The kids probably killed that one - joke, guys, joke.

"Last week they somehow got into my truck, have no idea how, and also sort of disappeared. At least they'll eat, be spayed/neutered and have great pet homes."
Was this one meant to just throw humor into a thread? It may have been, but it didn't come across like that to me.
Some folks think we have too much humor in our threads and can't stick to just training dogs! Just goes to show you can't please everyone all the time.

Lynne, people come to this forum to get advice. Some things said in jest are taken seriously by others. You have to be careful what you say.
There is always someone higher up to go to. Hell, use the press to your advantage in a cruelty case like you mention. They eat $#!t like that up.
Do something else. If it is really that bad, and what you did previously fell on deaf ears, then try something else.
I just have a problem with you or anyone else deciding to confiscate animals based on your own opinion. It is too easy for someone to project their own uninformed opinion on something they don't understand.
I don't want "you" or anyone else deciding if I take care of my dog properly.

Barbara - 2 different threads - and yes, I did take those pups and had homes for them before I took them and gave them thru a pit rescue with spay/neuter contracts. This is a special circumstance, which I explained. You are bringing another thread into this one, which has nothing to do with the other.
No comment to Michael as I have him blocked.

Lynne, I responded earlier on this thread due to the fact of seeing these comments on other threads. I refrained from commenting on the other threads, but after seeing the same thoughts expressed again today, it appears to be a "trend", which in my mind, makes it relevant.
I don't take animal abuse casually, nor the taking of another person's animal without going through the proper channels.
