I think you may be right about the empty stomach. She has had bile vomits before but this one was alarming in how bright it was and it wasn't foamy at all. It looked almost like a melted crayon only slightly more liquid.
The blood was only a little, and kind of mixed with mucous. Not bright red but definitely there.
Hey Lauren,
The bright yellow color is most likely from it being just bile with nothing else mixed in (she hasn't had food in several hours, correct?). Callie will do this from time to time because of her pancreatitis and it is a really bright color.
I would suspect that the blood is just a result of irritation from the diarrhea. Since it's just a small amount and mixed with mucous I'd just keep a close eye on it.
This has happened with both mine and the last episode was the result of them getting ahold of a couple of dead field mice.
I don't blame you for not wanting to leave Tasha alone until you're certain she's ok. I wouldn't either. i'd keep a close eye on her and if the vomiting returns or the blood in her stool increases I'd certainly return to the vet asap.
But again my disclaimer....just a human GI nurse weighing in here
Well, she might be riding the train for the first time tommorow. Not sure how that will go without treats
Since she is a shepherd, I am a little concerned about EPI. Thinking about it more I realized that some of the abnormal stools this week were yellowish and stinky.
She was a lot better today. I fed her a tiny bit of chicken and rice and had no issues. Because her spirits were up I didn't want to stress her by bringing her on the subway for the first time in this condition, so she is at home.
I'm sure everything is fine, I haven't gotten a call from my roommate, so I'm assuming things are ok.
