I'm going to go back to the puppy's weight here for just a second, because something just occurred to me. Nick, are you sure you don't have your scale set to kilograms instead of pounds? A puppy that weighs 13.6 kilograms would translate into 29.92 pounds, which seems much more in line for a four or five month old male Malinois puppy.
Did you get him weighed at the vet visit? Is that where the 13.6 figure came from?
Not meaning to pester you about this, but that's why several people have asked what his date of birth is.
I'm reading all the various threads on your new pup, and I'm curious, have you confirmed his age is 5 months? 13-14 lbs is REALLY small for a 5 month old Malinois. My pups at 8 weeks are usually 10-15 lbs. I don't think a pup who is 14 lbs at 5 months is going to mature at more than 40 lbs. A good, but not 100% accurate, rule of thumb is to double the weight at 5-6 months to get an approximate adult weight.

I agree with Kadi. My Frost who is 3 years, 16.5 inches tall weighs 31 pounds. She weighed more than that at 5 months. My male Sinjin weighed over 20 pounds at 12 weeks and is now around 60 pounds and 21.5 inches tall. My friend who breeds Malinois (moderate sized ones generally) said that her pups are usually around 25-30 pounds at 4-5 months.
I guess I would be concerned that there might be some other potential health issues going on for a 5 month old Malinois to weigh less than 14 pounds....
With that said, take a deep breath and be sure to enjoy your puppy :-)

I told the O.P. this on the phone. The vet thought the pup was healthy and certainly not emaciated, so I'm thinking that Kadi/Ingrid's questions might be answered by the scale question or a double-check of the age.
That is interesting Kadi. I intend to do something similar to this with Frost's litter. I do keep records of my dogs' weights as they age. I checked my records for Sinjin and Frost.
