What is a good brand of dog food that isn't age specific?
I feed my dogs Orijen, both the regular formula and the 6 Fish variety. My 10 year old dog and my 7 month old pup do great on it. I've heard of some dogs having problems with loose stools, but mine never have.
I don't really like the idea of "puppy food" but wasn't sure what brands are actually for all ages. Right now I have my dog on the Costco brand of dog food (kirkland) and I don't think they even have a "puppy" brand.
There is a grain free food sold at costco that is essentially Taste of The Wild, labeled as something generic. (I think it's Kirkland? I'm not sure...)
TOTW is considered almost as good as Orijen- and the prices at costco sure can't be beat. (It's also all life stages) I rotate my dogs from Orijen to TOTW.
Lately, we've been feeding a mix of Canidae's grain free line, and Native level 3 (30 protein/20 fat).
Native is very affordable, and has gotten good reviews from many mushers and bird-dog or gun-dog enthusiasts. We were trying to go grain-free only, but after some research, I just don't buy that sweet potato or potato or peas are somehow better for a dog than grains (barring allergies). I think it's a marketing kick.
Both brand foods are all life stages. TOTW is also a great food, but I found the calorie content to be lower than some of the other grain free foods- but it's certainly one I'll keep in the rotation.
The prices on EVO and Origen are just too high to justify right now. The bags weigh less, prices are higher.
As for Pano, I have only experienced it with one of my TM's and it was when his Ca:P ratio was off on my part being raw fed.
I found that once I got the phosphorus level increased adequately for the Calcium I have not had another "issue" with Pano.
Causes of Pano are so hard to pin point and all you seem to hear is conflicting information
I don't think Innova is any good anymore. They were recently bought out by Proctor and Gamble, which means Innova could very well have euthanized dogs in it in the future. Not saying it's the case, just saying I wouldn't trust it judging by the other brands of food they own. JMO
Maybe I'm overly paranoid.

Bah, I wasn't aware that they had bought them out. It wouldn't surprise me if the ingredients and method of manufacturing have changed since then. Natura used to be a decent food company.
