Tail carriage... Some dogs have a 'gay' tail, and others don't. Some lines have more upright carriage then others. (Kadi, I just saw a video of one of your pups on a BH routine, do many of your dogs have happy/high/gay tail? I love it. ) Koenig has a VERY 'gay' tail. Sometimes it gets close to Husky style curve in it. Pretty extreme, and it would be faulted in the conformation ring, (FCI).
Some of them carry their tails VERY high when they are happy, excited, in drive, etc. Most don't have actual gay tails, they carry them normal when they are relaxed, but I do like that really cocky "flag waving" look :-)
My poor DS does not have anything close to a normal carry. Hahah. It's ALWAYS up. Higher if he's happy, but always up. (It's set to high. Whatever. He's KNPV, not FCI)
I totally agree. Love the happy dog look, with the flag a waving!!
Yes Kelly, I got many questions answered. I really love the DS mostly because they seem so motivated. It takes a lot of effort to train low motivation dogs like the ones I have. It is so hard on my legs to try and make drive for three dogs. Especially since I am 117 Kgs.
I want to own a DS some time in my life. I need to save up the cash and get the info and also practice my training skills.
There are no BM/DS breeders in India.
I just love the way they look. Just like a normal street dog. Thats how a dog should look. Totally unassuming. But all that is special about it is under the hood. That is so attractive to me.
i vicariously live my DS dream through youtube videos.
Think of it this way for now (since you don't have the pleasure, and headache of a DS currently). While your expending energy trying to build drive in your fantastic dogs, I'm spending just as much effort trying to Cap Koenig's drive, and get him to calm the *$&! down!!!!
OK , One last question about the Dutch shepherd vs Belgian Malainois .
Does the dutch shepherd have some special ladder climbing genes? I see a whole bunch of you tube videos on DS climbing ladders and roofs and trees and all that.
Well, Did not mean to sound dumb when I typed that question. But is there any difference between the DS and the BM, except for the coat colour.
I'm with Kelly on this. There are a couple of breeders who's "thing" seems to be doing lots of agility work with young dogs, IMO it's their marketing ploy. There plenty of dogs out there with these abilities, so some searching on youtube and you'll find lots of videos of various breeds and mix-breeds doing this type of thing. It's cool, but I don't think it's that difficult or limited to any one breed.
