Yeah, unfortunately, I know it happens all the time. That's one reason why I oftentimes don't have a very high opinion of some of my fellow humans.

We had people come in once whose dog had gotten out and the been attacked. They waited until it was time to take the draining tubes out of the wound to decide it was to expensive to rehab the dog (that was almost done healing physically, he just needed physical therapy) and put him to sleep. Non-owner present. Siiiiiigh.
