I haven't posted in ages Nick. However, I just had to chime in here and reiterate how much your attitude disgusts me to the point of actually being a bit sick in my mouth.
You should not under any circumstances have a high-drive working dog at this point. Or at any point. Or any dog, for that matter.

He doesn't get it.
Nothing anyone has ever said has made a drop of difference.
And now Gambit pays.
I guess try to return him to the breeder. I'm sorta scared to do that though. A friend knows the guy and said he may just put the dog down. I don't want to see him die. I'm trying my hardest to find a home. I even thought about going to the pet store and putting up a flyer. It's that or the pound.
The pound .... what do you think they will have to do, Nick?
And then the next poor dog will pay. Same way.
(Good job, "Mentor," to help get another dog into these hands.)

Not just any dog, Connie. One already trained in Protection. So now, someone's gonna get seriously injured... and the dog will pay the price - again. The dog always pays the price for stupidity...

Dogs always pay the price of human errors. Be it buyer's remorse, BYB, "no time for the dog," "he's too hard to train," .....
I just hope Nick can make the best out of this situation and find Gambit a suitable home.
As for the next dog, I don't think anything we say will change his mind on it.
I know we all have strong feelings about this situation, however, chasing Nick away is not going to make the problem go away. I hope we can help Nick find a good home for Gambit.

Anne Jones:
I know you talked to a HIGHLY respected malinois breeder on this forum about me on the phone. She later told me she thought you were.. Ready for this?
NUTS!
I might have a home for him already folks. Things are looking very good. I have two people in line. The first one is a VERY good home! (so is the 2nd!) The deal if all goes well will be done by next week.

Nick,
You should think long and hard about getting another dog just yet. The "problems" you posted about just a few months ago are so basic that to own a "protection trained" dog now will be a nightmare for the dog and your family.
I think most people interested in dogs should learn by doing, make the mistakes and learn from them, I truly believe you cannot do this. I believe you have a warped sense of what a dog should be and what a protection dog should act like. Defense work on a 11 month old is kind of retarded but more likely you don't know what the term means and what defense work looks like.
What club or trainer are you working with ? Is it a secret?

John Axe is his mentor, Al.
Both have posted about it so it's not a secret.

Hang on to the second guy's number. You may need him too when the next dog doesn't work out to suit you.
You just don't get it. This is a life. A sentient being that you took into your home with (to the dog) a promise that you would care for him and protect him for life. A dog is not a car that you can just trade in on a newer model when the new smell wears off. Your attitude represents everything that is wrong with dog ownership in this country.

I hope with all my heart that this works out.
Then I hope with all my heart that once, just once, you listen to what an experienced guy like Al Curbow is saying:
